oh i thought of a few other games that should get remade:

Pepsi man
Pulse man
Jet Force Gemini

that all i can think for now also what sucks it that the earthworm jim psp game was more than 80 % finished before they decided to can it Sad
Tombi. Just because I really freaking want to play Tombi again and it still isn't out on the European PSN. (Also, it was adorable and quirky and generally a great game.)
Toki. APPARENTLY a HD one is coming but well, I think I'll be dead before it actually arrives. Which is a shame as Joe and Mac was said to be next and the Arcade version of that was utterly awesome.

-These are great Zelda-like games. The first one could've done without the gridsnapping, like the 2nd one had; free movement. Otherwise, the soundtracks are really great and the games are fun. But, they're stuck on the NES, which means emulator only (unless you want to get an overpriced NES copy, or a beat down used copy).

I bought a complete in the box mint condition copy of the first for $10

also the 2nd one sucked pretty hard
the "gridsnapping" is INTENTIONAL AND IMPORTANT TO THE GAMEPLAY
*Super late in seeing this*
Eh, I hate how people blame the removal of gridsnapping in Startropics 2 for their dying so much on missed jumps. At that point, you can't blame it on the game, but your poor platforming skills. They literally allow you to walk to the edge of whatever platform without walking off, so you just hug the edge and THEN jump. And you won't ever have problems with the platforming in the game. The gridsnapping makes it feel like Mike is sliding around on ice, and when you're trying to go right just after going up or something, you have to finish waiting on him to align himself vertically or horizontally on his imaginary sidewalk before you can move again. It doesn't feel natural or fluid at all. Gridsnapped movement should be reserved for RTS games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem, not realtime action/adventure/rpg games.
What's with remaking games that are still completely playable and hardly outdated at all lately?

We tend to look past the 'outdated' part, or atleast take it with a grain of salt.
I wasn't actually referring to the previous posts so much as the current trends of the industry.
Ah, sorry. Though it's hard for me to say when something's outdated. I just played F-Zero X with my bro and had a blast, though would love to have it reworked like OoT and SF64 for 3DS (not without the Expansion Kit content). I don't feel it's outdated, but it deserves to be remade with today's standards.

The industry tends to listen to the fans with just half an ear. It all comes down to how much profit they can make.

Which games in particular? I know it is done, I'm just curious what series is the main focus you have.

Zelda. Both OoT and especially Wind Waker are still completely playable games. Maybe they could put some effort into remaking less playable entries from the series like Zelda, Link's Awakening, Adventure of Link, or A Link to the Past.
I don't see how LA and ALTTP are less playable than OoT or WindWaker.

They were stretches and not my first choice. I'd rather see Zelda II remade.

But a lot of people want to see ALttP remakes and it is dated enough to warrant it.
Never played ALttP (I really should) but I don't really think LA needs one. That being said I'm an extreme fan of the GB/C Zelda games so that's just my opinion.
Although, if it were just an aesthetic update that would be quite cool. A few extras could be added, but they'd have to be optional (like how DX added the Colour Dungeon, as opposed to changing an entire dungeon).
Link's Awakening has aged very gracefully but I would not say no to an updated rerelease as it IS my favorite Zelda game

Having four-or-six equipment buttons thanks to the DS would certainly improve it by a huge margin, and the touch screen would only help things along

A Link to the Past.

I'm... not following you, here. I played that as a kid Ninja
Honestly, I don't think it needs a remake in any sense. That they basically created Four Swords with the port is enough for me!

Only game that would really come to mind for a remake would be Metroid II, but a fan is doing that by himself Tongue
