top row: characters who are (ostensibly) finished
bottom row: characters who are not finish who've had work done on them within the last year (so, within the last two pages of the thread)

the in-progress roster is a lot smaller than it was the last few times character roundups were done. it seems this project goes through occasional surges of popularity. let's work for some real progress this time!

So, that's the current roster then? I was imagining it to be a hair bit larger considering how many other users were on this site, but okay then. Considering how much of a fresh face Mario360 is, I'm rather surprised that you are letting him join the roster instead of telling him to come back when he spends more time on this forum and getting involved with more conversation threads.

Shouldn't Metaru be on the top-row?

this isn't "the roster," this is the only what's been worked on lately and what's already finished. there are a ton of other characters in this thread and the old thread who haven't been touched since 2012, so i didn't include them. if anybody jumps back in with updates to a character already started, then i'd toss 'em in.
EDIT: and i'm not "letting" themario360 join; i put his sprite there because it was worked on recently.

i was unsure about putting him on there because of his current status as banned. he is technically finished, but it's not my place to say whether or not he's still part of the game.

To be honest, I forgot if he left on good or bad terms. The game is us, and generally if someone is no longer in the community, it wouldn't make sense to put them in. But if the community wants him in, I don't see why not.

Thanks for the clarification, CBL! It definitely answers my question and answers several others I had.

I'm only throwing this idea out there, but maybe we could have a post with the current up to date roster?

Metaru whipped up a pretty bitchin move set, and whether or not he left on good/bad terms, he was a very big member here, and should definitely be in.

So I noticed C2B has more mugshots and phrases against competitors, as well as a lose pose.
Should I add them?
I definitely can--I was just wondering what exactly I'm missing or if those are extra.

Also I'm on Gwen's side. It'd be a shame not to use all of that work. I guess it's up to Gors/Robo9.

Before putting Metaru in, you really should ask him if he still wants in, especially since he made his own sprites himself (and therefore, they are entirely his own).
Even if it seems like a pain, it's good courtesy.

everything from virtuaboy through hoeloe i grabbed by going through this thread and the old thread starting from the last post and going back, so those are in reverse chronological order of posting. hopefully i didn't miss anything!

everything after that i nabbed from ploaj's post on the 17th page of the old thread. i removed any sprites from there that were outdated to my knowledge.

EDIT: notably, many of the images in the old thread (and even this one) are down because of image hosting sites not keeping them up forever. many sprites are probably lost, unless their creators still have them and feel like reuploading them.

After what Kitsu mentioned about Metaru, you think maybe we should skim through this roster to see which of these characters would still be able to remain in this game for the same reason Kitsu described with Metaru's sprites?
