Yours is left, mine is right. There are probably anatomy issues or something, but I wanted to illustrate about smoothing the corners of the shoes, and thought it'd look better if his leg was bent similar to this. It's your sprite, so you can change or not change whatever you want, but I just wanted to give my input. Just something to help give you ideas and whatnot. c:

thanks for the critique! i took your edits to heart and i think it worked out for the better

That looks awesome! Glad I could help.

Anyway here's a crappy in progress of me.

Its difficult because my character is in black and white. But I'll keep at it until it looks right.

I might have to re-try too. Guess I was going for the "metallic" look since well, technically black and white are usually the colors that are more difficult to work with. I don't know exactly where my sprite's overdetailed though..
there was too much shading. Grab your sprite and compare with gilbert or robo9.

READ ME

Complementing what robo9 said, you may make a full character OR an assist character. If you feel you can make a full character with all the poses, go ahead. If you want something easier to make, go for assist characters.

I am saying this because I really don't want to see imcomplete sheets in this thread. If you can't cope with the workload, your character won't be included. Be warned!!

>>OUR GOAL HERE IS TO BRING ACTUAL CONTENT TO THE PROJECT. MAKING UNUSABLE SPRITES WILL NOT HELP THIS PROJECT IN ANY WAY, AND I WILL NOT COMPLETE UNFINISHED CHARACTERS.
I made a couple of quick edits to mine.

Still not the best, but meh.

Gilbert, Robo9, that car from Street Fighter, whichever works. At least the lineup's helpful.
What would the assist characters do?
It would be a lot easier for me to do that.
Yeah, actually... has it been decided yet how the assists will work? That'll be kind of necessary information for people if they want to make themselves an assist. I imagine that you'd probably just need an entrance, an attack and an exit animation, but knowing how the mechanics are going to work might help people brainstorm how theirs will work. Also might help to have some guidelines as to what would be acceptable strikers and what would be hard to program, too powerful or just boring.
Assist characters work like Marvel VS Capcom's helpers, the player can summon a helper so it can attack the opponent.

jump to 5:53 in this video, Akuma appears as an assist character.

I broke the color palette because I was just having fun and I didn't care
[Image: liMcp.png]
But here's one that tries to fit it. I'd need a replacement bright orange though.

nothing clever here, just dancing

I planned to use a light cream/brown hue in my sprite, but went for black instead. It's not necessary for me, since I can do black instead, but if someone else wants something like that, it might be worth adding.
Can I be the assist that you hate getting because it doesn't do anything but is a waste of an assist?

Corrected the problem, recent on the right. Though I might be thinking about something else, mainly the horn.
I do not see a difference.

At all.

You are jamming way too many shades into these things as you do with a lot of you work.
You need to simplify it to the extreme here.
