Yeah, lying doesn't reflect very well on your site either.

Ho ho ho! Mabelma, I do think you need to take a closer look at the information you're giving people! You may have been INTO art for about three years, but I'm fairly sure you haven't been in the industry for very long if at all.

Lots of people that make websites are inexperienced, so there's no worries about having a website. But maybe it'd be more beneficial if you just made it a blog to post updates on your art and to receive feedback rather than it be a portfolio.

I say wait until you are in college or even out of college to make an actual portfolio site. And by then, you'll surely have much more experience and will have improved by leaps and bounds. Don't be discouraged by the fact that the website isn't good; use it as an opportunity to better yourself and move on to better things. Ho ho ho!

Ho ho ho! The Secret Santa is underway, get crackin', my elves!

Thanks Santa. I get what you're saying. I'll forget about the website for now but I won't close the account just in case. I'll fix the intro text in a sec and I can do all of those things I mentioned. I'm working on the design right now. I just need to finish a few things and get it coded.

I was working on this layout before Father Christmas posted but I didn't want it to go to waste so after three more days I finished it and I want to show you guys. I'm going to get it coded and add it to the website before I start a blog and leave the website on hold.

I don't care how long it takes. I love art and I will be a great artist one day. I have never said that from night to day I will become a great artist. I'm saying that I have to keep trying a lot more and one day I will succeed.

No one is; most people aim high and sometimes their outcome isn't as great as they pictured it in their mind. Human nature.

But practicing and studying and working to achieve your goals helps, and after all the work, you'll hopefully be able to make it as good as you expected. Just keep at it Mabelma, you have a good work ethic and a strong spirit. Don't give up, and I'm sure you'll find that you'll become what you hope to be! Smile

Thanks for the kind words Dex you're a great man. Hope live brings you many good things. Thanks for all of your comments. I'm getting a dude to code it for me because I don't know CSS but if he doesn't do it I'll learn it. Expect the new layout to be working in a moth or less. Any comments on anything what so ever about anything?

I edited my website, new layout, new color scheme, new art and lots more. It would be awesome if you could point out a few flaws on it so I can fix them and make the website better.

I'm thinking if addig a FAQ section so if you have any questions ask them.

Your "art styles" shown in the art section show almost no variety. It's all incredibly simplistic (and amateurish), and that will make it VERY difficult to get an actual paying job with people that aren't just simple flash developers-- especially when the three games shown that you've "worked on" also have the exact same amateurish and simplistic look.
You need to look into doing more styles, and improving your general technique overall.
Don't focus on your site so much, focus on your actual art itself. Once you've stacked up a decent amount of varied art, then you should work on your portfolio.

And don't be vague anywhere in your portfolio. Where it says "many more," fill in exactly what that "many more" is. Don't give people such a huge cluster of "skills and tools" because if you're not actually skilled enough in said skills, you're only going to let down your clients, or they'll be forced to work with an average skill level. What you need to do is show a lot of people your work and have THEM evaluate whether or not you're skilled at it, not self-evaluate yourself.

You also mention "animation" and "web design" as one of your skills, and yet you don't have any examples to show it. At all. Your "past employers" also need a link to their website or forum profile or ANYTHING, so people can evaluate your past clients and their projects that you may or may not have taken part of, so they can decide if they really think you'll be up to snuff for their work. Putting "web design" as a skill is also a really bad idea when your own portfolio has virtually no design to it (and looks like it uses a default template style).

You don't want to overexaggerate any of your "skills" unless you are absolutely 100% sure that your "skill" in the medium you listed will satisfy more than just the client.

I get it now Tyvon, thanks. Forget about the website and focus on the art, got it. Thanks so much. I'll get right to that, gonna post some of my new art on my actual art thread in hopes of getting some critics.

Might aswell make a tumblr and use it as a blog for keeping people up to date on my projects and getting critics on it.

Which do you suggest, tumblr or livejournal or wordpress?

*Edit*Gonna go right ahead and use tumblr it looks promising.
