hey look guys i'm bumping a a year-and-a-half-old-thread
but it's okay, because it's a relevant question and honestly; this is a good topic. u_u
i mean of course we'll be playing games forever and ever
I'm currently playing Monster Tale on the DS -- known for awhile as Majesco's "Project Monster" and IIRC originally a DSiWare title? I don't know why I like this game so much lol, I was expecting it to be thorough garbage given its neopets-inspired designs and all and some of the most unoriginal characters ever oh and a disgustingly bad story but after 15 minutes with this game, I can't put it down wtf
however, it plays like a castlevania game (going through one very intricately, well-designed level) with some megaman sprinkled about with your arm buster and all.
the gameplay is pretty much Henry Hatsworth (emphasis on character juggling for better drops) but instead of solving puzzles, you're raising...pretty much a Chao. Raising the monster allows it to level up, learn new abilities, type immunities, and increases its stats...and when you're not raising it, it can travel up to the top screen to assist you in ass-kicking and puzzle-solving.
oh and the pixelart ingame is pretty fab too, it's like they were trying to be the next Shantae
simultaneously I'm playing through Dissidia Duodecim but I'll leave that for another post
