Rip Backyard Football (GameCube) Models (.LFG Files)
#1
This is my first time trying to rip models for GameCube, but I needed help. I wanted to rip the GameCube models from the game Backyard Football, because it's kind of fun. Backyard Football is a kids sports game created by Humongous Entertainment (now Playground Productions owning the rights), where kids dream to touchdown in a football game with the pros of NFL. The characters, designs, animations, and expressions are really fun too (my favorites are Pablo, Kenny, Pete, and Reese). I've been following some tutorials on how to rip those models. Some tutorials I followed on YouTube were like a decade and many years old, it tells us to use 3D Ripper DX, Ninja Ripper, etc. The rippers like 3D Ripper DX was only supported on 32-Bit sytems, which it's not kind of helpful for me. I tried to do the same thing with Ninja Ripper, but unfortunately, it only ripped some shader files on some text files. I and tried to extract the entire disc using the Dolphin emulator, but I did manage to get some files that are characters, animations, football, and stadiums. But, some of the files for the models I got were LFB, LFG, LFH, and DTM (for the textures). And the animation files were all LFA too. And the sounds and audio files were all ADP. I want to rip the models & animations and convert to DAE, OBJ, FBX, etc, so I can post those models & animations from Backyard Football (GameCube) in the Models Resource, because no one has done that in years. But I don't know how I can convert them in those model formats. Can you guys help me with what I can do next? Feel free to type the tips, tutorials, or answers, in the comments below.

Update: It's only the LFG files that needs to be converted to OBJ, not LFB & LFH.

Progress:
Pablo: 100%
Reese: 100%
Football: 100%
Achmed: 95%
Amir: 100%

Without having sample files nobody can help you.

Here are the sample files. Extract them, and take a look inside.

How did you do that? Are there steps on how to convert them to OBJ, FBX, or DAE files?

Update: I tried to do the same thing myself but, all I got is unrecognized file format.

Zoltan did not release this version yet.

See the version numbers!

Zoltan released the latest program version now.

Just use the Help/Check for updates… function to get this version.

OMG. I can't believe I did it myself! 3D Object Converter v11.302 (which I updated myself) can read LFG files, unlike the past versions that can't. Then I'm able to convert it to .OBJ file myself. But then when I imported to Blender, all I got now is this. A Pablo model with square holes all around. Is there something wrong, and how do I fix this?

I think you did not read the message in the Batch converter's message panel:

This is an unregistered copy of the 3D Object Converter for Windows!

Please note that in this demonstration version the geometry exportfunction is fully functional except that every 5th polygon in eachobject will not be exported.

Thus, be warned that the holes which appear in the exportedgeometry are due to this demo limitation.

If you find this program useful you may register it.

O_O No wonder why... I need to buy the registration key. This is a problem... there's no way for me to continue on. Although do you think you can try to convert these Character, Helmet, and Football LFG files into OBJ files, one by one?

So I did a little something with the OBJ file that still had holes. I used Blender, and I can actually fill them. I've been following some steps online on how to fill holes on models in Blender. In Edit Mode, I select the edges/verticies to fill in the hole, and I pressed the F key and it fills a hole on the OBJ model. It kind of works and I wanted to fill all the holes of the model, but not all of them were filled in. Is there an easy way in Blender to fill all holes in this model?

Good news for me! I actually managed to fill all the holes of this Pablo OBJ file, one by one. It took me hours to fill them all in Blender. But lo & behold, I present to you this complete Pablo OBJ file. Now if I can find the way to apply the character texture (DTM (although it needs to be converted to PNG, BMP, VTF)) files to the model. I shall probably do the same thing next for a lot of models (OMG SO MUCH WORK TO DO!) What shall I do next?

You've been waiting for this for years, but Zoltan made it in 2 days in his free time!

He payed for his development tools and pays for his domain and web host service every year.

Every registration helps him to keep this project alive.

I understand that. Anyways, have you read my other posts from above? I actually filled the holes of the Pablo OBJ in Blender.

I've done another Backyard Football (GameCube) character OBJ file with holes already filled out. It's Reese, because why not? For me, he's still a fun character! I guess I'm starting to get the hang of filling holes for OBJ files in Blender! I probably might do more. As long as I still can figure out how to apply texture files (DTM files to convert to PNG, BMP, or VTF) for the OBJ files (look at this link here: https://www.vg-resource.com/thread-43605.html)
