Looking for Capcom models from Dreamcast
#16
Sorry for the necro-post, but there has been a development. My models have been ...
wait for it ...
REJECTED! yay.
This isn't unexpected. At least I was given a reason. It turns out "The normals are all mixed up and messed up."
With having very little experience in ripping, editing, and submitting a model, I didn't even know what a Normal was, or how important they are. I mean the model looked fine on my screen in both Blender and in a model viewer, so this was a surprise to me and I wasn't sure what the problem was.
To fix this in Blender, I entered Editing mode, the top toolbar has a "Show Overlays" button. It looks like a transparent dash circle over a white circle. Next to the button is a pulldown menu arrow. Click on the arrow and click on the "Face Orientation" check box to enable it.
In my case, I saw a jumble of red and blue surfaces. All the red ones are in the wrong direction.
To fix this, you can select the faces, or press "L" with your cursor over a section to select all connected faces. The press Shift+N to recalculate the Normal to the outside. You can also find this in the Mesh menu, under Normals. You can see the shortcut keys to recalculate both Outside and Inside. Now that I have fixed all the Normals, I will resubmit and see what happens.

Below are some helpful videos on Normals.

Apologies in advance for necroing this.
But using Ninja Ripper 2 and Demul, I get flat models regardless of how I import. Should I use Ninja Ripper 1 instead? Specifically looking for Project Justice models in my case, but it would be nice to know in general. I was gonna try Nulldc, but I couldn't find an old enough build that works with the stereoscopic plugin. Any help with this Demul method would be awesome.

Some interesting news about Project Justice! In the latest Capcom Fighting Collection 2 game where the game is included, NinjaRipper, even the free and old version as 1.71 does work on the game! It can actually capture 3D models on full 3D without being flat or with UV Errors. The Negative point: every model is made of pieces, meaning that when you use this method, all will be a chunk in the center of the scene.
It is a bit bad, but right now it is possible to get the models of that game, even stage model do work.
