Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain .phyre files
#1
I would really appreciate help figuring out how to get the image files, specifically the dialogue sprites, out of these game files. I don't really know what to do with this type though, I've tried googling it and tried some of the things I found but so far none of them have worked. There seem to be three main versions of the files; .phyre, dae.phyre, and dds.phyre, but I don't know which would be likely to have the sprites, or what to do to get them to a regular image format, preferably .png with transparency if possible. I uploaded a test file of each type if it helps.

If someone knows how to rip it for me I don't mind, but I'd really like to at least have it explained how it was done; I want to learn to do this stuff myself as much as I want to get the sprites.  Shy

I found that chara.dds.phyre and enemy.phyre are .gxt image. But you will need a tool that can extract only the necessary data by batch process, and also flip the image (I think all of the images will be like this). Maybe someone in this site with a bit knowledge of programming can help you (Sorry, I don't have any knowledge of it). This is what I got by getting the data of that .dds(the little guy) and from enemy.phyre (the yellow thing and the shadow):

Also, I figured out that .dae.phyre doesn't have any related to sprites. Maybe this are for 3D models or another thing.

Ahh, thank you very much! What did you use to get those images out? I could easily flip them myself if I could get them into a viewable image format like that.

VGMToolbox with the Advanced Cutter fuction for get the .gxt file data only, removing the data that the .phyre add to it.
Then, use Noesis to convert them to png. If you will do the flip on your own, maybe you can try by searching some tool that do it in batch process, or something like that.

When you download the VGMToolbox, use this .xml I attached. Then move it to \plugins\AdvancedCutter , inside the tool folder. With this, you won't have to set up the advance cutter, simply load the GXT Extractor preset.
If you have problems or questions, say to me.
