But this was also one of the reasons the sequel series to Xiaolin Showdown was hated ...
It was outsourced to Canada ...

Wow dude. You realize Canadians have feelings too, right? This cuts deep

Sorry about that, but I brought it up because there was indeed an uproar over the voice actors being replaced due to that.

Nothing wrong with Canadian voice actors. Tara Strong is awesome, and I did praise the cast of Beast Wars. They were unknown beforehand.
Heck. Lee Tocker  is legally blind, but he's one of Ocean Productions's most professional voice actors.

As someone big on cryptids. The stories behind the ogogpogo are interesting, mostly due to what they really are.

People tend to forget moose are dangerous and scary animals.

Man, Nelvana use to have some brilliant animation. They've fallen into the low budget club making cheap flash animated shows.
Come on, admit it. Canadian studios used to have beautifully animated shows and movies. Look at the cult film Rock N Rule.

Speaking of films. We need more animated films aimed at older audiences, besides Sausage Party. They really used to be common.
Gore Verbinski, the director of Rango, said it best:
Quote:There are shackles with the budgets and the profit margins. You want to compete with what they're doing at Pixar and DreamWorks. There's a price tag with that just in terms of achieving that quality level. What happened to the Ralph Bakshis of the world? We’re all sitting here talking about family entertainment. Does animation have to be family entertainment? I think at that cost, yes. There's the bull's-eye you have to hit, but when you miss it by a little bit and you do something interesting, the bull's-eye is going to move. Audiences want something new; they just can't articulate what

in terms of anime dubs, the best that I know of from Ocean would have to be Ranma 1/2. Most of the their actors we're properly trained, and while the anime had a shaky start, things progressively got better and they ended up continuing with a full-budget adaptation of Inuyasha.

The worst that I've heard would have to be Slayers. It's actually difficult for me to watch because of the amatuer voices. Lisa Ortiz was pretty much the peak of talent for the first series (as well as that guy who did Gourry, who's also the voice of Brock from PKMN). But i did hear from fans that about 20 or so episodes in they made some significant changes to the cast.

checking out those mickey mouse shorts because someone here recommended it not too long ago. i have to say that i'm very impressed considering it involves a disney property. they clearly put this series in capable hands, because they made it with a lot of love and consideration for oldschool cartoon-watchers.

I was a bit unsure about the Mickey Mouse shorts due to the art style, making me think they were trying too hard to copy 90s CN or Nick.
That is until I bought the first season on DVD. And I'm glad I did, as the new show has brought him back to his glory days.
I really liked how they finally addressed the thing with Pluto and Goofy in the dog show episode.

Most Disney fans agree he started to suck around the mid 40s and when he stopped wearing his trademark red shorts.
As the shorts afterwards made him a pretty bland and unfunny character with zero personality.
Heck, in other countries, especially Europe. Donald Duck is more popular than him. Though, I always liked Donald more.

Nintendo should take notes, because intentionally keeping Mario & Friends flatter than "Dork Age" Mickey is not a good thing.

i sometimes wonder why i have friends who like to watch shows that make fun of a certain type of people (i.e. portlandia picking fun at people living in portland, scrubs picking fun at medical care workers, etc.) but then when they come across big bang theory, they're just completely offended by how they depict enthusiasts of "nerd culture." sure, it's highly exaggerated and at times makes no sense, but isn't that the point of these kinds of sitcoms, to blow things out of proportion for comedic purposes?

i mean everyone in my family loves that show, so it must be tasteful in humor. i don't see why it's not a good show besides that the running gags tend to remain static - that's the only reason i can think of.

but really...in a time where people make fun of each other in their daily lives, they should be able to take a joke from a TV show. lol

rewatching an old old series of home-made puppet vids that i was pretty attached to back in like 2008. it's probably cheesy now since it was made by high school students but there's a novelty to it.

How many are looking forward to the new DuckTales? I'm not sure what to think of it at the moment.
People are fearing it'll be done in Flash (I hope not!) or make similar mistakes Quack Pack did (Trying to be hip with today's kids)

I'm a little sadden about how none of the surviving actors from the original are reprising their roles. Russi Taylor IS Huey Dewey and Louie.
Though I kinda wanna check out David Tennant's take on Scrooge McDuck. Will he be unique or imitate Alan Young?
He seems to have a talent for voice acting. He's not using his normal voice for the Fugitoid on the new Ninja Turtles.

And all we know is that the writers have confirmed to be following the Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics even more than the original.
Plus Donald Duck's now one of the main characters, which I'm happy about, as the original only had him in guest roles.

Let's also hope they don't butcher the theme song either.

I'm really looking forward to it; I'd even be open to it being in flash!

i'm not surprised that i used to love old rankin/bass xmas films when i was little. the craftsmanship of their art and animation team is just off the charts, and not to mention most of the work if not all was done in a japanese studio.

there are a few hidden gens from them that i just discovered, like the life and adventures of santa clause, that girl in wonderland, and mad monster party (which is basically what inspired hotel transylvania).

then there's the last unicorn of course. beautiful soundtrack.

More than likely it'll use Toon Boom Harmony, since I think that's what the Mickey shorts use and what Wander Over Yonder also used. Those have really good animation, and I'm of the opinion it's better than most western TV animation currently out there, so I'm definitely not against it, lol

Oh yeah, I forgot about Toon Boom. Even The Simpsons and Rick & Morty use it, and both have good animation.
That's what I like about Rick & Morty, too. It's one of the few Adult Swim shows that don't rely on intentionally bad animation.
Even if it has to do with budget reasons, I hate that kind of thing. It just looks terrible and makes it unwatchable for me.
Remember how awful Filmation was? (Very limited animation, and relied on using a lot of stock footage)
