8 games in one sounds like fun.
Okay I get your point but the box basically lied to you.
I mean, I honestly didn't get the point of having like, "8" different games in one thing.
Especially when there are only five that are actual gameplay.
That and samurai Kirby is WAY better than megaton punch. Just saying.
I mean, I like KSS, but for the time, I really don't understand some of the logic behind it.
It's a fair game overall in my opinion. Just not THE BEST as some people make it out to be.

I admit that I am not the biggest fan of the cgi cutscenes however I feel it is more for nostalgic reasons than anything else in my case. I do not think the cgi actually looked bad, I'm just fond of the sprited look of the originals.

Aside from that, though, the KSSU update is vastly superior to the original SNES game, and that's coming from someone who has completed the original more times than there are days in a year. The visual aesthetics alone are a fantastic improvement. I mean the original seemed to look good at the time, but you go back and look at it nowadays and I mean ... yikes. It's not bad but it's definitely not one of the best looking SNES games out there. And I'm not just talking about sprites either, the backdrops alone were significantly improved.

But even outside visual aesthetics there were so many great additions to the game. Revenge of the King, Meta Knightmare, and Helper to Hero were all fantastic additions, and so were the new minigames that they added which were surprisingly fun after so many years of Kirby games with only "meh" minigames; and the minigames from the original are still present too! We got better translations, improved physics (although most people who aren't super into the original might not have even picked up on that as it's not really that noticable), more easter eggs (stone ability eat your heart out), improved AI for partners (if you actually choose to use them), not to mention new challenging bosses such as the ever popular Galacta Knight and Marx Soul.

It's honestly one of the few "remakes" I've played that honestly did a fantastic job of really bringing back what you love about the original game while still being much more than just a simple visual upgrade with few frills. The only other game that really comes to mind for me to compare it to would be Metroid Zero Mission for the GBA.

Though on the flipside, the GBA remake of Kirby's Adventure was complete shit and I hate its existence.

Yeah, KSSU looked...alright, let's say.
There are WAY better looking games on the console.
The CGI cutsenses were alright, but TBH, they seemed....slow.
At least to me.
Like in the original the cutsenses (ESPECIALLY Revenge of Meta Knight) were like, 2 seconds long.
It was crazy.
In KSSU they went on for like what seemed to be a few minutes.
As for NiDL, I have NEVER played it so I dunno about it.
But whatever.

The game is a complete nightmare, no pun intended. I could go on a rant about everything they did wrong with the game, but it would honestly probably create hours worth of reading material for you to scroll through.

The ONE good thing to come out of that game was the Meta Knightmare mode, but since KSSU did such a better job with their MK mode, it's barely even worth noting anymore.

Seriously though, don't even waste your time acknowledging it. Go play the original NES game instead; that thing was a f@cking masterpiece.

... assuming you like Kirby at all, that is.

I think I need to chime in one thing about Kirby 64:
Ribbon + Crystal was a fun ability. I wish I could use it (well a modded version) elsewhere as like a 100% completion reward.

Okay, two things:
I'm surprised I don't see too many fan demakes of the game. It seems like it'd be a huge candidate for it (Maybe one exists, but I've not heard of it)

(I also think KSSU is slightly overrated. It may be the best in the series... but it's not HANDS DOWN as such. Decent arguments can be made for several of the other titles)

If we're being honest, Kirby doesn't really have bad games (at least among the platformers) it only really has inferior to previous title entries.

So you're complaint is more he couldn't take alternate paths than the controls were bad? Because if that's what you mean I agree it would be cooler if you could go in more directions.

But he's not hard to control at all.

I have played the original Kirby's Adventure (Does 3D classics count?) and yes, that game was a masterpiece.
I ONLY thing I could think of being bad in it is that the difficulty was kinda brutal (At least to me).
But I'll take your recommendation on avoiding KNiDL.
As for Kirby64, You mean to tell me that you hate the game for stellar graphics and controls?
That makes no sense even for me.

Also Jer how on god's green earth did you come to the conclusion that I don't like Kirby?

Oh no you didn't!

IMO, Nightmare in Dream Land was great! One of my favorite Kirby games. (Then again, it was my first Kirby game, so I am a little bit biased toward it)

In Jer's defense, he like, ripped all the Kirby games so he know's what he's talking about.
That and well, you should try the original. (If you haven't).
I HAVE played a LITTLE TINY LITTLE SMIGEN and well, it was kinda lackluster.
Problem 1: playing with a keyboard is hard enough, and well in this game it's hell.
Kirby feels like he's on ice and is far to slippery than he should be.
Problem 2: cheap hits.
Like I will be attacking like crazy and seemingly out of nowhere I run into an enemy.
Not to bad, but you lose your ability when you get hit so it's pretty damn annoying.
It's just kinda...meh.
I don't see why on earth it's so popular. If anything it's overrated.

I was speaking from the point of view of someone who has played the NES version enough times to immediately recognize everything they did wrong with the NiDL update. If it's the first Kirby game you've ever played, I can easily understand why you would love it, as it doesn't fail at being a good game if you treat it as a stand-alone title. Your opinion of the game is entirely valid.

As a remake of one of the greatest NES games ever made, however, it is comparatively complete garbage.

Yeah, I've played both versions, and I love them both, but I still prefer NiD. But it's fine, we're all entitled to our own opinions. Smile

Sorry to tell you this, Jeremy, but I like Nightmare in Dream Land, too. Besides the gorgeous updated pixel work, the big reason why I like it over the original is the ability to float using the A button instead of holding up on the control pad.

Still, if it's one thing I'll give the original credit for, it's how it pulled off the rotation effect for Butter Building.

Actually you don't have to hold the up button. You have to tap up to initially inflate yourself, but once you're puffed up you can fly around using the jump button.
