Yeah, that's great thing. Some enemies can be a bit tricky to figure out how to beat/dodge properly, but they're never impossible. And the timing aspect of battles keeps them fun and they always require skill. Other turn-based games, like Pokemon, rely completely on experience and chance.

Also, one thing I loved about all three games was encountering a new enemy. It's always exciting to discover how to dodge them, and to figure out how they show who and how they'll attack.

Hmm... maybe I should make a Mario & Luigi topic? We're kinda de-railing the thread. lol

Only 11 pages? Did the thread just shed?

Edit: Lol, I'm so stupid sometimes. I forgot I changed the amount of posts per page to 50, making the number of pages in the thread less. Oh lawdy.

um, the big text saying 'GUNSTAR SUPER HEROES' should give you enough clue

Seriously, it's a good GBA game. It's basically an enhanced remake of the original Gunstar Heroes from SEGA Genesis, but with a handful of differences in gameplay.

If you never played Gunstar Heroes in any way, it's a run-and-gun game (the same game style of Contra and Metal Slug). You can choose between four weapons at any time, and killing enemies increases a super bar which can be used for super blasts. It also has melee-combat techniques such as flying kicks, slides, beam swords etc. which can be devastating.

You are free to choose which level you'll start first, and things get harder later in the game. Interestingly and differently from most run-and-guns, the levels vary greatly from gameplay so while you shoot the hell out of enemies in one level, you can also find yourself riding a fast robot running on a tunnel's ceiling, trying to knock out enemies from an airplane and even playing a dice game to defeat the boss. Certainly a really good game.

*Sting Chameleon's Theme*

I don't think so (if I did it was a long time ago). Either way, since I've already posted all my X series favorites so far, here's something new from Mega Man:

Speaking of!

I love both of the Gunstar Heroes games, both Genesis and GBA, but I think the first one had a better feel to it, felt more visceral, I guess. Though if the GBA had better quality sound, it would definitely give the Genesis version a run for its money. The sound they went for with the GBA tracks sound pretty cool, but the Genesis tracks win out for being a bit more powerful, I think. Just my opinion though!

also this

Also I agree, the YM2612 synth chip from Genesis produces amazing sounds if used correctly. Gameboy Advance music usually end up being 'washed out' or with 'weaker' samples, principally if they're starter releases.

Games tend to get better both visually and musically when the console already has some time on the market. Compare Super Mario World's music to Final Fantasy 6's soundtrack to get what I'm talking about.

mother 3 has some pretty fucking amazing music

but then i look at mother 1+2 what happened

different sound drivers, music importing issues etc

SNES ports never sound 100% accurate than the original versions due to the big hardware difference between the consoles. GBA has an inferior soundchip so obviously the SNES versions will sound better in most cases.

This is not the case with games with completely original soundtrack (as what happened with DKC3GBA; the sample quality is incredible). The fact that the newer games came a little before than the console's launch also meant there were better sound processing software to cope with more samples and such
