didn't like the sort of light and eastery vibe I kept getting from it, so I played with the colors some more~
lowered the saturation and played with the contrast slightly
slightly more saturated and less contrasted version:

If you wouldn't mind, but would the character be running across the bricks or on top of them. If on top, they are fine. But at the moment, just making them blobs of colour that protrude out. Bricks tend to be pretty flush and if the cement is of a similar colours, its even harder to tell where they separate.
You've defined the bricks too well, pretty much.

Changed the coloring; finally fixed the "easter" issue without losing too much information. Still playing wit the saturation, but thats pretty minor.
And the character is on the floor which resides above the bricks, as shown in this old mock shot:
