Games you like that everyone hates

I think people generally don't like FFXIII? I'm not totally sure. I didn't like it for a long time either, but I like it now. It just takes forever for it to get any good, and the story and characters I...I don't even know how to feel about those

A lot of people I talked to ended up hating Halo 3 in favor of all the other FPS games out there, but I had a lot of fun with it. It was a nice way to mess around with friends if you didn't take it so seriously.

i never said ff7 was bad. i love it, its obviously not as great as ff9 but it's still a solid game. people just judge it purely on the fanbase which is BS.

I always enjoy games that are very goofy and silly (this includes cheesy voice acting, dialogue and cartoony effects). It just adds to the fun factor if you appreciate that type of thing.

I've laughed out loud playing WarioWare Inc.: Mega Party Game$! (I know that's not a hated game, just an example), Jetters and Luigi's Mansion along with Spyro among others (Enter the Dragonfly would've been an even greater game if it wasn't rushed and had some gameplay affecting glitches, however still had lovely graphics and was very playable).

it really depends on where you go
i still wouldn't really say that its hated enough for it to be a game "everyone" hates.

While I'm thinking about it, I don't like the new Legend of Spyro series. I haven't played the games but I don't like the change in style (the characters are kinda ugly now) and I really have to say that A Hero's Tail is one of my more (if not most) favored games and I love the old characters and atmosphere and there was no real need to "reboot" it. It's just a less fun of a style now.

I loved when the enemies laughed at you when they hit you and those wacky Gnorcs and Riptocs and it was just so much win.

-Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. The most common complaint (that I've seen, anyways) from haters? "It's all anime-ish and crap. PoR sucks." (Most of these people also adore Dawn of Sorrow despite it having a similar art style). If you look past the "anime-ish" quality, you'll find a really fun game with a (IMO) decent story. Besides, it's the sequel to freakin' Bloodlines! Now, I do have some complaints of my own (spoiler'd due to tl;dr-ness), but they don't stop it from being a decent game (at least the main adventure).
-Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. I think what distances most haters from HoD is the soundtrack, especially when compared the quality of the music in HoD's predecessor, Circle of the Moon. It's a shame, since besides that, HoD is probably one of the best Metroidvanias (God bless Konami for the forwards/backwards dash mechanic). HoD's not quite on the same level as SotN for me in terms of my favorite CV, but it's pretty damn close.
-Fatal Fury 3. Many SNK fans I've seen dislike it because of the "complicated" plane-switching mechanic (OH GOD IT HAS THREE PLANES INSTEAD OF TWO BURN IT WITH FIRE). First off, FF3's plane-switching is not that hard to wrap your head around; it's kinda awesome here because you can't just play "Back and Forth" to run out the clock; instead, you only get about a second in the foreground/background planes (also forcing you to think faster about what to do from there). Plus, for its time, the attention to detail was absolutely badass IMO.
-Yoshi's Story. Almost all of YS' haters hate it because it's not like Yoshi's Island. Well, gee, maybe that's why it wasn't freaking designed to be Yoshi's Island 2? (well, ok, it was called Yoshi's Island 64 in development, but they yanked that title to distance it from Yoshi's Island). It's a short game, but some of the levels can be damn frustrating, especially when trying to find all 30 melons in each level; not to mention all of the Special Hearts to unlock all the levels.
-Megaman 7. The only real problem is the fact that the sprites are HUUUGE for such a small screen, but the player should be able to get used to it fairly quickly. It's also got some great jams. Plus, the hidden fighting mode is really cool IMO.
-Megaman 8. Other than MM sounding like a little girl, I thought that MM8 was a decent adventure; only problem was getting used to the slight overhead view, but even then, you should quickly adjust to the view.
-Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Oh shit I went there). To tell the truth, I actually preferred PH over Spirit Tracks! I thought PH's story was stronger; the items felt more unique in PH (since their touchscreen mechanics were new then; most of the items in ST just take those items and do nothing new and special with them), and to risk an immediate execution, I felt that rolling in PH felt more natural than double-tapping to roll in ST.

Yeah, I'm not really sure why people don't like PoR

Aside from the Death Glitch, it's definitely one of my favorite CV titles.
I have to agree with Charlotte being next to useless, but if you have her set to the correct loadout, she makes the death boss fight insanely easier.

My biggest complaint with PoR though was that all the 2nd tier areas were literally just rehashes of the older areas. It got annoying having to do the same pyramid level and forest mansion level, etc over again a second time.

Oh and Castlevania 2. CV2 is easily my favorite out of the pre-SotN titles (I actually dislike CV1 and CV3, inb4 shitstorm) and I'd absolutely LOVE a CV2 enhanced remake that's actually coherent. The Day/Night system was pretty cool (though the pausing was always annoying) and I liked the open-ended exploration feel to it.

Um, everyone doesn't hate Yoshi's Story? I must be really missing something. It was one of the best N64 games. Why don't people get outta the past and learn to like something new. YI was what it was and was amazing for it but they aren't gonna keep making new games with the same old play style. Experimenting with different gameplay can dramatically boost a franchise (see the 3D Bomberman games) and YS did just that (as well as find a special place in our hearts for being so adorable).

Who could hate Mega Man 7 and 8? Seriously? People need to get out of the 8-bit dimension. MM7 would have been better on the PS but it didn't make it so they did very well with what they had. Still the same formula just with a different feel. I liked the big sprites.

MM8 is underrated for poor reasons. It's supposed to be cartoony, that's where its charm comes from, and the animated scenes added a sort of modern feel to it (and I love Dr. Light's voice, they should have kept it in future games) which fits since it's the third latest in the series despite being over 10 years old. Even though it's the same play style it had a "cheery" vibe and overall had a good, different feel. The voices were good, Aqua Man's got glitched and sounded squeakier than it generally is on occasion but the voices were generally good for an old game. I see nothing wrong with it except that it was a bit difficult at times (especially the bosses). A couple weapons weren't quite as useful outside of Robot Master battles as others (I can only think of Water Balloon ATM), but y'know they were okay if you needed something a little stronger but didn't want to waste a better weapon. Others like Astro Crush I wish didn't run out so fast but eh.
