let me pitch my idea for a common grass/bug one:


based on a bombardier beetle. i hope it's readable. need ideas on how to make it less realistic and more pokemon.
suggest patterns/color swatches/features/etc

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet, but I think we need at least two fossil Pokémon that evolve and maybe a third that doesn't.

they were discussing an isopod earlier in the topic, and they discussed a fossil pkmn last page.

I really like the bug design. The only thing that it really needs is a different eye

Hm bombardier. Any reason why it would be part Grass? Seems to me it should be Bug/ Poison.

Oh and guys you can try a crack at the starters in sprite form if anyone wants to. Feel free. And since the starters have been established we can be free to suggest any kind of ideas we want. just remember not all of them will be accepted. As for me I've been thinking real hard about the Legendary Trio, (you know like Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres) and I have an idea that sounds pretty cool to me.


Okay I was think about Rock, Paper, Scissors and thought it would be neat to incorporate that into the trio.
Rock would be Rock type (duh)
Paper would be Fighting type to beat Rock
Scissors would be Flying type to beat Paper

I also came up with the idea that these beings would be quadrupedal beasts and based on the arts of various places.

Paper would be based on Origami, making figures out of paper.
Rock would be based on a Greek statue, making figures out of rock marble.
But what would scissors be?

Anyway I pictured the Origami one to look like a paper crane except it would also have four legs.

the beetle could be fire/bug, now that i think about it.
make it some firebug and give it a reason to "light" its own fuse when desperate?
maybe a pkmn power similar to sandstorm, except fire? idk pkmn terms.
the idea is to make it a common encounter in grassy areas and a threat to weak pokemon (if you can't ko it before it explodes)

i'm not so sure on the rock-paper-scissors idea. mainly because it's the underlying structure of the game already. partly because weren't the legendaries always based on mythological creatures? (roc, thunderbird, phoenix for example)

besides, we already have at least five legendary birds.
legendary birds, dogs, golems...
maybe three legendary fighting pokemon?

i'm liking the grass and water starters. especially the water, it's really interesting enough to make me want to choose it.
the fire starter just reminds me of flaafy.

i also like the idea of a nautilus pokemon. we could always give it features to make it distinct from omastar.
in fact i sketched some concepts for a nautilus and a panda pokemon. i'll post them when i'm done with school work.

I really like the panda idea, but no so much the design. Mind if I tweaked with it later?

Well, thanks for the info. Anyways, I edited my previous post here.

The trio in Diamond and Pearl are based off of Imperial Regalia, and Black and White are based off of the Three Musketeers. They don't have to be based off mythical beasts.

The idea here is that these legendaries are based off of human craft and Roshambo. It's a very unique concept. These legendaries would embody the very concept of Pokemon typing.

maybe we can make a Spinda evolution?

man-made legendaries. hmm. it's a good idea, and i like how it's so close to art, but i don't see how we could make a scissors one, unless it's based on a weapon. like a Kris, maybe?

Yeah Spinda is actually based off of the red panda so technically they've never done a real panda before.
