Submission form or forum post?

More files on the server doesn't slow down the server.

As Ultimecia said, the idiots could potentially ruin this.
Personally, I think the submissions form is better (although less efficient) because it allows people other than staff to catch mistakes like missed frames, or stolen sprites, etc.
With this, there'd be an influx of people sending in crap sprites expecting them to get put up, and probably lolcats and goatse spam being sent in instead of actual sheets. Just sayin.

As if this wasn't possible through Dazz's e-mail or even the submissions board.

Yes, but then the non-sprite stuff can be controlled.

The e-mail submissions are also a issue. I have a friend who submitted lots of Phantasy Star I stuff and one other sheet through e-mail but never got a reply and he don't try the forums because he can speak English almost as much I can speak French. So now I'm talking directly to him and to Ton, I'm going to translate the sheet tags (they are in Portuguese) and show to both Ton and him.
If he had this problem, another great sheets might get lost in the process
But for all great idea there are idiots.

Those saying "but what about the goatse" - clicking a reject button is easier than deleting a post, banning an account and dealing the influx of members being stupid.

You seem to all think that site would be directly updated by the submissions - they would only be added after being verified.

It seems like an interesting idea, and anything that could go wrong with the system (although, the current one is not without the same flaws) has been said. Regardless, good luck, it seems like it would be cool.

A great idea, but 2 things:

- Don't have this option available for custom work. I can guarantee that any sheets submitted this way that don't also appear on the boards in some form WILL be awful.
- Limit the number of sheets submitted by an IP over a period of time. It doesn't have to be a very small cap, but rejecting 20 spam submissions from some douche is better than rejecting 200.

Hm perhaps we can make a Custom Improvement section to replace what we have now.

Someone who had their custom rejected or is unsure if their custom is good enough can post it specifically in there.

It could promote more people to submit better custom works.

Not a bad idea, actually.

Lots of the customs could use revamping, though there are lots of gems in the section.

Still looking forward to seeing this system tested! Wink

tSR's control panel is linked to forum accounts. So dealing and banning users that are abusing the form would be no different than banning a user that started posting crap all over the submission forum.

I do agree that it shouldn't be possible to submit Custom/Edited sheets through the system, though. A good feedback behind those ones before they're added to the site never hurts.

I wouldn't dare be the one to judge customs, so I also agree with that.

I like posting them on the message boards, but the form would be convenient.
