wip 2.0
edit: idk if it's because i've been working on it for almost six hours, but
does it remind you of a game character? i can't put my finger on it.

i mean i know it's a bit on the generic side, but
I've got painter 12 on trial, and the brushes and effects are great! I do think it's overpriced and I was really pissed off when I discovered I had to "register" to carry on using even the trial version (the program wouldn't start up unless you went through this, infuriating).
tried out pretty much everything on the first run
a quick (maximum four hours i think?) self-portrait i did, second run through painter. i can't tell you how irritating it is to be blinded by light when drawing on a computer screen, i spent over half the time squinting and not able to see the values properly.
The ink brushes are my favourite by far. Smile
Chris I'm really digging that, it has a great intensity to it.

Baboy. It sorta reminds me of how I dress when doing yard work, no joke.
chris2balls confirmed for ssfiv
i "acquired" painter 12, but it's super slow on my crap machine
i have to wait a full second for a stroke to register

it's like running photoshop, blender, zbrush, and wmp at the same time
in the end i just made some custom brushes in ps

i like the first one the one that smells of alchemy
oh man, that sucks for the lag. Sad

i'll try painter x once p12's trial is over, and if there isn't much of a difference i'll go for x. painter 11 has had some pretty dire feedback from what i've seen, which is why it's the cheapest of the three.

if painter had the option to make custom brushes like ps then i wouldn't hesitate. i would buy it. what i like about painter is the way each tool interacts with another in terms of effect. it's not as realisitic as they set everything out to be, but it's decent enough for me to have giggled with joy each time i used a brush for the first time. i don't think it's possible in ps cs4 from my occasional use of it.

that's why i do think that coupling ps and painter would be best, i'll just have to find a way of "aquiring" ps. why can't they make student prices for these kind of products? :I

Both of those are fantastic! I liked the first one so much its now my desktop Cute
I think it'd also make a killer t-shirt.
from what i've seen painter has a buttload of brushes already, though.
wasn't really able to try much because of said lag. :X
