I've seen people actually griping about this dlc. Why are people literally shit stains?
Well I'm still pretty shocked to see a lack of Diddy, Birdo, and Bowser Jr.

Which are some incredibly bullshit oversights considering that other than Link, we're getting another pair of fucking Mario and Peach clones instead with the first DLC pack. Maybe Diddy/Birdo/Bowser Jr. could make an appearance in theoretical later DLC packs, but the fact that they'd prioritize a second set of clones over them just comes off as lazy to me.

I'm excited for the other stuff, though. But yep, I can definitely partially understand the frustration with this DLC.
This is neat and all, but I'm not sure I'm 100% behind crossover stuff in Mario universe games.

They really should just bite the bullet and make Super Smash Kart.
If anything I just want Super Kart Bros Double Smash, and have Pikachu riding the kart and Captain Falcon is in the back punching people in the face.

That's what I want more than anything else. But we all know that ain't gonna happen.

Still I'm actually surprised that nintendo would pull this out of their asses, maybe this means we may end up getting Pac-Man as DLC in the future... or not. I don't know how many DLC packs nintendo is gonna release for their games.
Mute City and Blue Falcon, Dry Bowser, 6 racers and 16 tracks total for 12 Euros not counting the Shy Guy and Yoshi colors. All of my yes!

I think part of it is people letting all the horrid examples of notoriously bad modern DLC practices cloud their perception of DLC in general.

Considering that Pac-Man appeared in the arcade versions of Mario Kart already, that's not the most farfetched assumption ever.
Calling it now: dlc pack 3 with PAC man, sonic and mega man.

Yeah, it's just boggling though. You're getting 16 tracks out of 4 different cups, a good amount of new characters(I'm honestly fine with tanooki mario and cat peach, whatevs) new karts and such all for less than a third of the game's retail cost whether you snatch this $12 deal or cough out $4 more in the long run. It's a fantastic deal and most of the people who I see complaining are the people who just say "Back in the day we..."
Yeah back in the day sweet as fuck add ons like this didn't happen. DLC for the most part is actually fine, and is mostly always pretty reasonably priced, people just need to find a way to gripe about spending a little bit of money for additional content.(and this is not saying that there are not games out there that take advantage of dlc, like purposefully taking stuff out just to charge for later like a few games do, because there definitely is)

Considering that Sega already has it's own version of Mario Kart starring the Blue Blur, that's pushing it a little.

If they did this they would have to add the StarFox franchise. Imagine transforming from kart to Arwing and blasting through space while dodging Andross' attacks coming from the background. Yeah.

you know, about ten years ago if you told me this in the lunchroom I'd probably make a sheepish face and laugh, saying "Oh haha that's bullshit, Link in Mario Kart?"

wwwwwwwwwwwwwwelp.

i hope they make time machines soon, so i can go back in time and tell 7 year old me in 1993 "THEY PUT LINK IN MARIO KART 8. YES THERE'S EIGHT GAMES IN THE FUTURE

OH AND THERE'S 720 POKEMON. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THAT IS YET SO ACT SURPRISED WHEN PEOPLE TELL YOU THERE'S ONLY 151.

oh. yeah, people are gonna tell you there's 150 of those too but there's an extra one so it'll be relevant on playgrounds for decades to come

right. a decade is ten years"
If Nintendo try's to add third party characters this will happen

Mario was actually intended to be a guest racer in the Wii version of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, but was cut because Sega "didn't want to cause confusion with the Olympics Games franchise."

So I'd say Sonic being in Mario Kart isn't too out there.
