I wouldn't have picked Speed Highway, but dat track.

well they would have had to choose a level from Sonic Adventure. They couldn't pick Emerald Coast because lol Seaside Hill, Windy Valley would have been similar to Sky Sanctuary in being a "sky" level, Red Mountain would have been redundant with Crisis City already acting as the "fire" level.
Sky Deck would have been nice, but it seems like they tried to steer away from using any eggman-themed levels until Planet Wisp(Which arguably is only partially an Eggman level). Lost World, like Windy Valley, is too similar to Sky Sanctuary(Not exactly, but they're both ruins stages). Final Egg obviously wouldn't have made it in, so that would only leave Twinkle Park, Speed Highway, Casinopolis, and Ice Cap. I guess they felt Ice Cap wasen't very memorable, and honestly other than the snow board section it wasen't. Casinopolis was a level where you acquired 500 rings and called it quits, so it wouldn't have worked in Generations' framework. With Twinkle Park and Speed Highway left, I would have chosen Twinkle Park, since playing it really makes you feel like you're playing a Dreamcast game. It's just so whimsical!
I wouldn't have been so harsh on Speed Highway if they didn't already choose City Escape, because they're both "City" stages, even if one is in the day time and one is at night, and one is more speed oriented while the other is more platforming-based... I dunno.
But, there wasn't a stage from Sonic CD, right?

well when you fight Metal Sonic, it takes place in what I believe is called Stardust Speedway. Much like how the Shadow battle takes place in Final Rush/Chase and Silver takes place in Crisis City.
Honestly prefer the remix of this song on Ridge Racer (PSP) but this aint half bad now that I give it a good listen, can't find the preferred version.
Here to hoping the Ridge Racer on Vita wont be poop. *crosses fingers*
