I actually have a good interest in making an RPG, I just find I'm not a fan of RPG Maker. If I am allowed to make it in something like Visual Basic, as crude as it'd be, I'd happily become a producer instead of just being a helper (whom no one needs help from for quite some time, if ever)

Do you mean me? Because I'm not a producer, I'm just a helper. I'd love to see your ideas for battles though, I've already got a large amount of statistics and attributes made and tested in terms of variety of different actions.

I'd however love to design an RPG where combat isn't the most important factor. I blame Planescape: Torment for this development in my personal taste Tongue

In VB?

The main thing that concerns me about doing any kind of game in VB is the displaying of everything. I can easily do things like combat.

Its just the sprites and graphics that have my completely without direction of how its done. (If I could, I'd do something thats similar to X-Com in control, because I love that game a sickening amount...)

In terms of combat style I should be able to. Its just that whole graphics thing. I could make a text-based RPG.


But then one of the reasons I don't like using RPG Maker is because I don't want to make something like Final Fantasy. I want to make something which isn't driven primarily by combat.

Why do you ask?

I just meant basically an rpg. With side view battling. All FF games have a similar "feel."

Also koopaul it's RPG Maker.
