New handheld gaming device from the creator of Bob's Game.

golden eye and perfect dark didn't. neither any of the fps on the system.

pokemon stadium can work without them.

of that list only starfox and Mischief Makers may really use the C-buttons.

but then again, my point stands from a purely "games that could be ported that doesnt need the c buttons". this comes from me playing Mario 64DS

that's because the c-button functions were relegated to the touchscreen, iirc

this thing doesn't have a touchscreen or secondary camera controller

you can argue about ports all you want, but we're talking emulation here. There just aren't enough buttons for an emulation.

On a side note; a technical question for dudes in the know - is 'more powerful 16 bit' actually a thing?

As far as I understand, that bittage is the limiter (short of memory-size, obviously) for what a game can do. So a 'more powerful 16 bit' would be 32 bit.

Don't think this will ever catch on but...
I like the idea a lot. Selling a console for the price it costs to make, with an indie games market where they get 90% of the profit.
That would be rad, but this guy isn't the right guy for the job.

Also i don't know why people are complaining about the design?
this is a sig

Well, kind of, yes. However, consoles stopped going beyond 64-bit as of late ever since the XBox came out for some reason.

Anyway, I can't help but laugh at Bob's silliness, honestly. First he tries to get his game approved by Nintendo and fails repeatedly, and now he tries this stunt? Pfft.

It's a nice ideal, but that's not how economics works. The construction materials might cost $10; but then theres:
- Advertising costs
- Shipping costs (to pretty much anywhere. Obviously more expensive if it's overseas)
- Staff wages
- Profit margin for the manufacturing company
- Retail Staff wages
- Profit margin for the retailers

And a most likely a shitload more besides. What's more, I'd be a bit suspicious of hardware designed to last that only cost $10 to manufacture.

Man, I've been dieing for a handheld N64 emulator capable device. I'm willing to bet the 3DS (and/or the NGP) will deliver on that.

Also a friend of mine has a Dingoo, it's pretty sweet. It's totally unnecessary if you have a PSP, but its a surprisingly neat little device. I never heard about it playing N64 games thoug.

Yeah, it's fully doable, if kind of redundant, the bit width doesn't actually tell you much about the processing power, just the hard limits of what it can and can't do.
For a start it depends if we're talking 16-bit colour depth or 16-bit processing, no doubt your current computer can scale down to 16-bit colour depth and do everything it can do right now, but if it had a 16-bit processor you'd be pretty fucked.

Assuming we're talking processing power, the bit width is just how much data it can process in one cycle, which is where it does get a little confusing.
Basically, if we had an 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit processor, all running at the same speed, they would all process an 8-bit cycle exactly the same, but if you tried to run a 16-bit or greater cycle, the poor little 8-bit processor would explode and die and hate you forever. Or something.

Suffice to say, yes, you can have a faster 16-bit processor, it just has to run at a faster clockspeed, (more cycles per second, basically) but a better idea generally is to use a 32-bit processor, which does exactly the same thing, (if you were clever you could optimise the system to send two 16-bit cycles as one 32-bit cycle and get double the performance even), and it would allow it to use 32-bit architecture too.
And now you too can point out when people use the term wrong and look like a huge smartass.

fun fact how, for example, most N64 games used to run under 32bits.

This post bothers me a lot more than the one it's quoting, FYI. Don't do this.

...WOW, 16-bit graphics! Let's compete against Nintendo in our graphic-obsessed market with THAT! Maybe I can play some 16-bit PONG on that shiz!

And it's UGLY.
I DID NAT HIT HER I DID NAAAAAAAAT.

Oh, hi Mark.
