Could I Make a Game if I Wanted To?

Yes, gravity is usually present in all games, Yoder.

Seriously guys, I'm not trying to be an impatient dick. You've seen how I've replied to practically everyone and acknowledging what they have to say.

I would love to know a few other basic things, like what tile-size should be used, if I should follow a certain palette, where can I discover this important information myself? I don't want to make a bunch of nice-looking graphics only to have it take forever to remake everything.

I was just confused by your statement regarding 8-directional movement, because platformers archetypically don't allow the player to navigate in 8 directions (seeing as gravity is usually present).


Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is a good example of an 8 direction platformer.
Most would classify that series as RPG. While ther are some platform elements, it's not quite the same.

You know what? This topic should be closed by a moderator or someone else. I'm just not getting the information I need here to make any progress. Only ONE person actually answered my question.

Then somebody says something about a "fifith one in the works" which isn't even a word. Then other people chip in about what it would be like and why it looks like it's top down instead of a side-scroller and everything else which should be discussed LATER. Not now, later. This thread was derailed.

Some platform elements? The game was just as mush of a platformer as it was an RPG. And how is it not quite the same? The platforming parts were really fun. An 8 direction platformer would work easily.
