[Art] Wut? KoA makes pics too?

The pokémon are great, but the background and water aren't right, they don't match.

YOU HAVE TO FEEL WHAT YOU DRAW, FEEL

No silly, only one is a Pokemon. ;o

And yeah, there is a bit of discrepancy between the water and clouds. The clouds I physically brushed in myself while I rendered in the water separately using a different technique, causing a clash in style. I still don't think it detracts from the original picture though, tbh.

Anywho two more quick doodles today. The first is my avatar drawn in a creepier manner. I decided I felt deviously twisted one night, so I doodled it.

Next I decided to try drawing something somewhat realistically. After feeling a bit morbid and distraught one night I wanted to physically draw the best manifestation of darkness and despair; a human skull. I think it turned out alright.

Coloring this is a bitch though...

Also a colored piece. This is just an Electric/Dragon typed pokemon I made named Styrm. (Storm+Wyrm)

I'd be interested to see you move out of your comfort zone a bit
try doing some more painterly colouring with some blending rather than just sticking with celshading. You've got this smooth anime-type colouring pretty much perfect, so it's time to try out new things, y'know?

I think I could try that out. Photoshop is capable of many different coloring styles and since I already pretty much got CG down, I can try a more natural "brushy" technique.

Not only that, but coloring the skull accurately is like super impossible to look good with the CG style. Sad

In any case, it can't be worse than my first coloring style. *shiver*

Yeah I like Styrm, I couldn't have done it better.

Why d'you draw on lined paper though? You're fucked when you realize you want to color them. Sad
I know you could just PS the blue and red out, but still.

That's gonna be like six additional clicks!!!

Well actually, I've come to learn that the paper you draw on holds little to no effect on the final outcome.

The technique I do to get my lineart done pretty much requires you to "trace" over the original sketch anyway. All you really need is a decent scan of the picture so you can make out the features clearly. To demonstrate what I mean, let's use my Darm picture as an example:

Original "scan" of the drawing. (In this case, I used my phone's camera. I lack a scanner.)
The same picture, converted to lineart using the pen tool in photoshop. At this point, you have nothing but nice crisp lines.
Final colored piece

I been working on a tutorial for awhile and if you guys want, I could share what I know with ya'll...

Well, that technique loses the original lines, which have more texture and can "breathe" more, if you know what I mean. I've tried this before in Flash, and I really didn't like the outcome.

Each to his own, I guess.

Yeah I know what you mean. I would love to be able to keep the overall "sketchiness" of some of my pics, but I think only a tablet can really achieve that. Sad

However, the smooth lines work great for the CG style as it makes it look more polished and refined so I guess it works for its purpose or something.

In any case, I know I said I'd try another style bla bla bla, but I couldn't resist 1 final CG piece. (sorry Zeemort)

What would Charizard look like as a Steel/Fire type?

Totally badass.

Go right ahead, kind sir. It would be interesting to see them adapted into another medium. Heart

Charizard looks like a mix of Skarmory and a skeletal version of Charizard. It still looks cool though, but you figure the flame would cast a much more dramatic glow then it currently has.

Kyogre looks awesome, but something about it bugs me :/

Probably the same thing that bugs me about it, the glowy rings. I messed something up on one of the layers and it threw off the whole chemistry.

I'm too tired to be arsed with it now though... Sad
