New tSR Is Go!
lot more organized, it'll take some getting sed to, but I think in the long run it'll be easier to find sprites

It's much less convenient now than it was before.
You browse through systems and letters when it's easier to browse by series, and no offense, but the current browsing system is really nauseating, because it reminds me of the GSArchives site.

It's hard to make an argument against superiors and the very owner of tSR, so I don't know AT ALL what to say. But I've used tSR since late 2006 [or early 2007, it was a long time ago], and in my opinion the site was much better before the first update [that I saw], because the buttons looked better when they were non-shiny and simple.

Of course I really don't expect anyone to make the effort to revert the site just because one person doesn't like it.

I...uhh...REALLY don't wanna get banned for this...and I'm not trying to flame anyone... ^^Sweatdrop

You won't, and I agree with you. The layout reminds me of a lot of other sprite sites out there. I don't find it more convenient, because when your looking for a bunch of sprites of a particular series, you have to jump around more than you used to.

The average joe searches for a certain character to go into their comic or whatever, they don't search for a game. Which means people are only going to recognize certain games and neglect to notice the hundreds of beautiful sprites out there that they don't even know exist.

I'm sure there aren't many people who have heard of "Undake 30: Same Game" despite it having Mario sprites.

Can't please everybody. Deal with it pal.
LUGIALV100 got a good argument, but on this case I believe it's more of a personal point of view

Actually, it makes sense: Instead of keeping the games organized by sagas and categories, now everyone *must* know the exact name of the game they are looking for, otherwise they will have to check manually the entire sections until you find it. (And that is only if they are looking in the *correct* section, too.)
That is my only problem with this new site, the rest is fine.

I dislike change. That is true about me.
But there's no reason to change something that works.

Edit: Also would it be possible to have a buttion to show the icons from past updates?

tSR costs over $100 to run every single month due to the crazy amount of system resources it uses, if the ads weren't there, or if they were hidden the site would basically close in a couple of months, the only revenue stream apart from some of the generous donations the site recieves is the ads. Yes, yes ads suck, I know, but in all honesty ads are keeping tSR online. I'm the one who deals with the server costs, and I can tell you it's not a small figure, the hardware we're using is really powerful, and therefore really expensive.

Even with the work that Krade has done on reducing the memory footprint of tSR (which by the way EVERYONE needs to give him props for) it still requires some fairly high end hardware to keep it online and nice and fast. And of course we're running on premium bandwidth too so that everyone, no matter where you are in the world will get the site as fast as apache (or squid for the main site) is able to serve it to you.

Probably a little more technical than it needed to be, but basically no ads = no tSR.

There are worse sites for adds. That doesn't bother me. It's not like they make noise or anything.

I do think the "Index" "Resources", "Forum", and "Donation" buttons could be a little different from the System buttons.

I expect there aren't many people who know which companies are subsidiaries of others too.

I think that the new version is much more convenient, and wiht the search it's easier to find a game.

Well, can't solve all problems, I mean, SDB and TSGK also have this problem. =P
At least there are the icons.

There has to be an easier way to find the custom sprites. I can't even find them now!
Thanked by:
That's because they aren't up yet. According to the main staff, Rips are more important, and come first. Just hold your horses Big Grin

Wow, it's incredible how people doesn't read the posts. There are hundreds of posts saying "the customs will be up later, we are putting rips first, please wait" and nobody reads them and keep asking where the customs are... very annoying Defeated
