I'm having site trouble.
#1
Ok, so my issue is that I cannot log into the site. Every time I click login it takes me to a page where it says, "click here to return to the site you logged in from" then redirects me right back to the same page without logging me in. Obviously I am logged in on the forums and my info is the same, I believe, for both forums and site. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to help me? Thank you in advance.

Are you running an ad blocker? They almost always interfere with the login script.

I am, thank you, I will try allowing the site.

So I've disabled my ad blocker for the site and the site is still doing the same thing. It takes me to the page saying "click here to return to the page you logged in from" then redirects me to the page only without logging me in.

Which domain are you disabling it for? If it's just the vg-resource.com domain, it won't likely work. The single sign-on system basically calls all four main site domains from the login page and I believe those calls are treated as ads and blocked. I'm not sure exactly what configuration would be required to make it work but I'd start with whitelisting vg-resource.com and at least the single resource site domain that you want to log in at.

For what it's worth, we do our best to keep intrusive and harmful ads off of the sites. Obviously, since we're working with publishers and don't directly choose the ads, sometimes things slip through but we try to act on it as soon as it's brought to our attention.

Thank you so much for your help, Petie, even allowing all sites through my ad blocker didn't help and now I have to leave for work. If you have any other advice or suggestions I will try them tomorrow when I get home. Thanks again.

The only other thing I can suggest is clear your cookies and try again. It could be that the cookie was half-set or modified by the ad-blocker the first time you tried and clearing them after whitelisting will let you through. That's just a guess though.

If you have an alternate browser without an ad-blocker installed, I'd try logging in there too. In some cases, I've seen ad-blockers, even with the site whitelisted or with the entire add-on disabled still interfere but I can't say for sure what's going on.

We'll figure out how to get you logged in one way or another.

Thanks again. That didn't help me either. At this point I think it would be faster just to re-register.

Your account isn't the problem. Something is blocking the sign-in script. Do you have a second browser?

I do, problem is I'm not sure I remember my login for the site. I'll try it though.

EDIT: Yeah, that worked. I just wish my main browser would sing me in.

I can reset your password if you'd like. PM me to confirm your email address and I'll get you set up.

That's odd. I have ad-blocker and it remembers/logs me in just fine.

It isn’t always an issue but can often cause problems. Altering which cookies your browser accepts can also be an issue.

Kael, if you’re still reading this, check your cookie settings too - specifically under which conditions they’re accepted. It might be labeled 3rd party cookies or simply “accept cookies” but you’ll want to make sure you accept them from everywhere which should be the default setting.

Sorry for being away the past couple of days, working two jobs on the weekends. I am still reading this and I'm thankful for all of your help, Petie. I will pm you tomorrow if you're available as I'm too tired to deal with all this right now. Thanks again.
