GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!)
Descent. Descent. DESCENT. And Earthworm Jim.

But I'm more interested in what happens to Descent, since in its previous state, the originals couldn't be sold anymore due to legal crap. If the right company gets it, that could change.

Nah, he should stay third party, as Nintendo's being bit of an ass lately. It would be better if Wayforward bought the rights instead.
Although Doug TenNaple should be kept away from the franchise, because he's not a very nice person in real life. Like an evil Ned Flanders.
Seriously, he tries to shove his beliefs down people's throats and argues like a manchild with those involved in biology and science.

Shame this is happening too, because they had plans to revive Clay Fighter this year. Would've been cool if it was still stop-motion.
And it's going to suck once the games get delisted off GOG and Steam. I probably should buy both MDK games before they go.

hmm yeah i could see Wayforward giving the Earthworm Jim franchise justice, just as long it still appears on a Nintendo console as well, also how is Nintendo being an ass lately?

Ignoring Metroid's 30th anniversary, the fiasco with fangames since last month, and not listening to fan feedback and demand.
Everyone at MFGG seem to be very worried about the fangame thing, fearing they'll get shut down as well because of it.

I still enjoy their games, but even I think they need to do more with their other franchises. And people are still not happy with Colour Splash.
Plus, Splatoon has been fun for me, as I rarely play multiplayer games. And they seem to be interested in making more female protagonists.
Considering the girl inkling is pretty much the face of the game. Appearing in promo stuff more than the boy inkling and whatnot.
And the Squid Sisters seem to be rising up to rival Hatsune Miku and Vocaloid, being in concerts done with the same technology.

On the subject of Interplay. I don't think anyone would want to buy Booger Man as it's full of gross-out humor that was popular in the 90s.
Probably why the remake's kickstarter wasn't successful.

Interceptor and 3D Realms also announced this.

The game in general is like a huge throwback to classic Apogge and Amiga games. With Conker-esque humor added as well.
A boy and his snarky sentient game console trapped inside a game world. Props to Jon St John's voice acting.

fair enough, still i would be sad to not see Boogerman in another clayfighters after all apparently Earthworm Jim and him are rivals in those games.

Man, that would be fun. Even better if Dan Castelanetta reprises the roles. I always preferred him as Jim anyways.
Who would be perfect to buy Clay Fighter, though? I'd hate it if they end up cheating with the animation in it: 3D emulating stop-motion.
Because the characters should still be stop-motion figures. Shame it's an art form studios rare do these days.

The monster characters in Mortal Kombat were done that way in the original trilogy, due to being four armed dragon people and a centaur.
Primal Rage was all stop-motions figures as well. And the game and setting resembles a Ray Harryhausen film because of it.

Okay, question for people who are more PC gaming savvy as I am basically a pleb when it comes to PC knowledge in general, let alone gaming:

My friend wants to know whether a steam machine or gaming tower is worth it. He has a credit for Alienware and is willing to get a machine up to 1000 dollars. I don't know the difference between a steam machine or a gaming tower. I also don't know what kind of games he's intending to get for it, but he's big in shooters (he likes Evolve and Overwatch a lot).

I'm going to be getting an apartment with him in about 3 months, so I'd have a bit of investment into it to as I'd be able to play it. However, I'm going into this blind and I have no idea what to tell him.

Any thoughts from anybody?

I'm not informed enough about Steam's hardware to comment on that, but I can say putting $1,000 on a gaming PC now will ensure you don't have to upgrade that thing for least least 5 years. The laptop I've been using for the past 6 years, I dumped on $1,000 myself with the intent of gaming, with these specs:

-6 GB of RAM
-2 GHz AMD Phenom II N930 Quad-Core Processor
-AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250
-Windows 7

I've been able to run most things fine, though 3D things with heavy detail and large draw distance like TERA, or voxel-based games with questionable optimization like Cube World, I've had to turn down a bit to regain full FPS, and not have just under 30 FPS or under 60 FPS if that was the games' standard.

Of course this is 6 year old hardware, and a laptop at that (I go for laptops so I can take it wherever) so $1,000 now would no doubt get you something better, in both the laptop and desktop departments, that will last you for some time to come. The most important specs you need to pay attention to are: RAM (if you get about 16 GB of RAM, you should never have to upgrade for at least 10 years), Processor ( 3 GHz+ Dual-Core will do fine; Quad-Core isn't using all the cores at this point yet for most things), and a decent graphics card (I'm hearing Nvidia is the way to go, but this is probably a tossup with another big name brand as well).

From what I've heard, Steam Machines have some serious compatibility issues and inflated prices when compared to building your own machine.

I'm not entirely picky about a PC's capability for games. it just has to fugging work. I'm seriously hoping OpenGL becomes more universal for games because I'm tired of having to install from an outside source like Direct 3D.

OpenGL drivers for GPU are very anarchic, some GL versions aren't included or implemented correctly in drivers, and Microsoft force some developers to use DirectX framework in return of other services(tools) and consoles uses DirectX ; and some GPUs don't support last OpenGL features. But GL is much better than DirectX; but when you do a DirectX game, you assure the compatibility for all Windows PC platforms.

If someone needs a game to get addicted to, try slither.io, it's kinda like agar.io but with snakes and you have to not bump into each other. I managed to get to #4 just now:

(If you're wondering why I set my name to Hila, it's because I heard about it from and episode of Ethan and Hila where Hila was playing it and I thought it'd be funny)

I've been playing Yokai Watch 2 every free second that I have. Man, I love this series. I really hope it doesn't fizzle out. It probably won't happen, but I'd love if it became the next Pokemon in the states. All of the local Walmarts and Gamestops were sold out of both games in my hometown, which is a good start I guess.
