I think it was kind of safe to assume that after the ESRB leak. I mean, they have to show the most adult parts of the game, so that would be the time where they'd show the dude with realistic fire arms shooting missiles and throwing grenades

Not every game presented to the ESRB has shown the most objectionable parts though. Some games have either been re-rated due to having stuff the ESRB missed the first time, or got away with things that are completely inappropriate for its rating but yet still kept its rating.

But did any of these games belong to Nintendo? Especially since Smash is supposed to one of the games that makes or breaks the Wii U

Considering that the game company has to pay a fine if they have to re-rate the game, it's in Nintendo's best interest to show the ESRB as much as possible the first time around.

Just because we did not see it doesn't mean the ESRB didn't see it.

So I read a rumor (meaning no evidence of this rather than hearsay, so take this with a grain of salt) that at the same demo where 16 costumes of Little Mac were supposedly shown, Link's Ordon Clothes costume was nowhere to be found. I don't remember reading that there were a total of 8 colors despite it's exclusion, but here are my theories on that subject:

-The demo was incomplete (for whatever reason, the game is probably sitting in stores waiting to be sold now).
-Both Smash versions feature some different costumes (contradicting the translation of a previous Pic of the Day about Zamus's shorts)
-UNLOCKABLE COSTUMES!?
-The person posting the comments was inattentive.
-The person posting the comments was lying.

I really would love to have unlockable costumes just for the sheer pleasure of feeling like I actually earned them. However if that is the case it does not explain why the Fierce Deity skin for Link would be available right away while the Ordon skin is not. Really seems like that should be the other way around. My vote is for the commenter was simply inattentive.

What I really want to know at the moment is if Fierce Deity Link is a simple texture swap or if they went far enough to change the appearance of his sword.

I really want to see them in gameplay...

Firece Deity is looking fierce! I don't think it's a full model though...

Edit: Fox's Wolf palette:

Seeing Diddy in pink again just dampens all hopes for Dixie.

I can't help but notice that this starting roster shows the characters in the exact same order as in the Duck Hunt leak ... just missing all the unrevealed characters and strangely enough Lucina ...

I really hope this is not the official starting roster though because there are a lot of characters on here that seem like they deserve unlockable status. Rosalina ... Toon Link ... all the third party characters ... etc.

I'm pretty sure that somewhere (I forget where and why, I've had a busy week) that everyone revealed on the website as of now excluding Lucina are all starters. That includes all 3rd parties and Luigi as well.

Frankly, I think it's better to have a fighting game have a large roster from the get-go. Keeping too many characters behind a lock can be annoying for a lot of fighting game fans. Personally, I love unlocking stuff, but I can understand why the starting roster is so large, and I think they are better off for it.

Also Koopaul, a color swap shouldn't dampen your hopes for a character. Just because a character has a referential color swap doesn't mean the character it is referencing has no chance. In the case of Fox's Wolf-inspired color swap, the reason people are saying it confirms that Wolf is cut is that there have been reliable leakers stating that Wolf has been cut in the first place. If the leaks weren't around, I feel like that color swap would cause a lot less distress regarding Wolf's status.

There's tons to unlock in custom parts and Mii outfit pieces alone.

Yeah, because recolors 100% disconfirm characters.

That being said, SchAlternate, Mario and Wario play completely differently, and have completely different body structures and features. Wolf plays quite similarly to Fox, and Dixie Kong has the same kind of body type as Diddy.

Notice that while Mario has a green costume and Luigi has a red costume, they aren't wearing each other's clothes. Why? Because in the heat of battle, it would be hard to tell who was who - especially since Mario and Luigi shared the same moveset in Smash 64. I'm probably one of the biggest Dixie supporters on this forum, but even I have to agree with Koopaul that Dixie's chances are looking slim right now.

That being said, the same leak that said Alph was going to be an alternate costume for Olimar also said that Dixie was going to be in the game, so...who knows what's going to happen.
