DK RPG need advice.

Not sure if this helps much, but I think the fact that the eyes overlap Dixie's bangs is a little weird. Maybe adding some sheen to the pupils will make them look less lifeless, too. Some things also look better without symmetry!

Lovely progress, but I want to give a little advice. On the overworld sprites, I highly recommend you give the character sprites a better angle to give a better impression that they are being seen from above, that way it will fit the scenery much better.

So I haven't done much... sorry. I've been busy. But here's a few little things I did.

I like the enemy sprites so far!

The Kritter though... Its arms look a little funny...The muscles are much too round; the deltoid shouldn't be marked like that, and you ought to flatten the tricep. Its pants also have a bad case of banding, you might want to clean those up a little.

I have to ask, with the over world sprites, where is the light source? It looks as if it was facing them directly at most points, but in other parts it doesn't.

i'm likin' this whole project pretty hard. i hope if this becomes like, an actual fangame or something, that the RPG battles are rhythm-based to suit the whole DK feel ):

Dixie looks freaking weird. Any ideas?

yes, she looks like a grandmother (though maybe "lisa simpson" would be a better comparison)

I think the reason this is so is that you're trying to give the two the same body type as Diddy. While that holds true for some of the later games where the character poses are ambigious, it looks like you were pulling inspiration from the early games' renders.
The thing about that is that Diddy was always kind of stocky in that regard (he had a round midsection) Dixie, however, never really had that (she had a smaller, tinier frame), and her posture in general was different too -

It appears that you used Diddy's body as a base, but slimmed down Dixie's arms somewhat. Like, I feel like you'll have to slim down Dixie's shoulders/torso to make it work - but don't make her look like a malnourished monkey in the process. ):

I mean, the other way you could go about it is to make her mouth open like in almost every press image there is of Dixie, but then she'd look goofy being the only one with her mouth open ): (and that would actually probably work better for each Kong when you're actively issuing their commands)

I'm redoing Kritter from scratch since he's too big to fit on the screen I have set up. But I'll be sure to make his muscles look less like orbs.

Dixie is hard because I can't get a good image of her with her mouth closed. I am using her newest design though. Atleast I'm trying too. Well I'll continue to work on her until it's right... and change up her body too.

Level 7, can you tell me which overworld sprites have the light source problem so I can fix them. Thanks!

On the mugshots:

Diddy needs some shading on his head for sure. It's too flat right now, and some shading could show that the hat is giving off a shadow.

Most of your line breaks (diddy/dixie's bodies, top lines of the um...uh...above the nose) are coming across as super unnecessary. Actually, the ... above...nose...lines ... are coming across too harsh as black lines, especially up against the whites of their eyes. Maybe you can use a brown instead or something. The upper lines of dixie's eyes seem pretty harsh too.

edit: oh oops that last part was fixed, I was looking at the wrong version, nevermind that

I'm a little nervous with the overworld sprites. You'd think they'd be the easiest things to make but in fact I'm having the hardest time with them.

Anyway I'll definitely fix up the shading issues with Diddy.
