You could also get images from Miiverse and crop the textures in an Image Editor. Much more difficult though.

Those were ripped with a 3DS-specific capture card, I think. Likewise with the Mario Kart 7 things we've got.

what about all the YT videos on 3DS games?
It looks like it's being done on an emulator, I can't think of another way.
