Playstation 3

I've had my 360 for 2-3 years now and I haven't had a problem with it. It gets plenty of air (not in a tv stand thing) it's just as cool as the computer (tempature)and it stays that way for 5 hours ( thats how long I play) but I don't play it everyday and I turn it off and unplug it when it's off. I find it better laying down the standing up (heat raises up) so really you get more air doing it that way and I think it's better on the dvd drive. I also don't do any of that on-line gaming stuff with it...Smile.

I think wii would have been better if there games were in hd think of how good metroid or zelda would be in hd. Plus I think it will only take time for the wii to get old with there cheap acciores like the wii wheel and there childish games the only thing thats keeping them alive is the ds and the classic games....metroid, zelda, super smash, pokemon not to mentions the good old games.

The only thing good for ps3 is the processor in it I would love to have it in a computer.

I (myself) died (passed away) a little (a quantity) inside reading that (Ridley's post).

Sorry to ignore your 'wondurfulee' made point, but when I read something like that, I just stop and have to laugh.

By Groovy's got it right, you're a half-year too late to this discussion. PS3 has games, Wii's more than just gimmick, and XBox has a 3-year policy for failing systems.

Now if you were to attack the fact that PS3 is going to be replaced in perhaps 2 years by the PS4, the fact that the Wii is permitting companies to push shovelware at full-game cost, or that Microsoft's XBox Live (for life) scam they're running, THEN you might have an arguement.

By really...

heh...

'ho hardedly' I mean really? That's wonderfully naive.

Over priced gaming console, but a cheap blu-ray dvd player.

Continuing the vein of naivety and parroting....
Sony Playstation 3 : $399
Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray Player : $267

And I didn't even look all that hard, and found a cheaper player from the same company. Now if your argument was that it was a good value for being BOTH a gaming system and a blu-ray player, you might get away with it, barely.

$399 is still the standard retail price for most high end blu-ray players. sure you can find outdated models that still work perfectly fine for quite a bit less, but comparing the PS3 to the majority of blu-ray players at the same price is hardly naivety.

I suppose I'm just sick of people claiming that the PS3 is worth it for a blu-ray player. It's not. It's only worth it if you want the games, or if you want a combination of games AND a player. As a stand-alone blu-ray player, it leaves much to be desired. In fact, I'd actually like to see somebody who had significant knowledge of both systems specs and such, to actually determine if the PS3 even IS a high-quality player.

Again, not assaulting those who buy it for the games, that's cool, I'll probably join your ranks sometime in the far future when it's price drops again, but as a standalone player, I just can't see it being a 'high' end player without investing in surround sound and a remote. Granted the remote is cheap as piss, but the surround sound is what'll getcha.

From watching a few Blu-ray films at a friend's house and watching them here at home on the PS3 I can see no difference between the two. However yeah buying it just for the Blu-ray player is a bit weird, I mean I don't own any Blu-ray films - they're just too damn expensive.

Though I did buy a PS2 because it could play a DVDs, as it became the same price as normal DVD players at the time I brought it so maybe there is some logic in that argument, maybe?

myself, I can't say that the PS3 will pull out of the race anytime soon, or for it pulling out in the far future.

yes, I admit, for casual gamers it might be a bit pricy, even for me iut was probably a bit pricy to buy it. But here's my pro for PS3:

I had gotten Metal Gear Solid for the PS from my friend, I tried playing on the PS2, it was so scratched up, the PS2 actually said there was no disk inserted into the PS2. So I popped it into my PS3 just for the hell of it a while later, and gues what, it worked perfectly, nothing screwed up, and there were no bugs... as far I know of.

the only thing I'm worrying about for the PS3 is the lack of exclusives, yes it's getting more and more, but for all we now they might eventually port to the 360, but still, the PS3 could own the Xbox when companies finally realize how they can take advantage of the PS3's technology.

And bluetooth, PS3 supports Bluetooth, which is kind of a setback compared to what others use (whatever wireless that tech is called)

The problem with PS3's "super awesome mega techonology" is that it's incredibly difficult to develop for, so a lot of companies just give it a miss and make their products for 360 and/or PC.

PS3 need more exclusives. Almost all the good 3rd party games are ported to the 360 in no time. For me that's why I like the Wii and DS. They can do things none of the other consoles to do, thus forcing 3rd parties to go beyond a standard port.

Wii is gimmicky and comes out with party games once a week, 360 systems are unstable and unreliable. once PS3 gets more games out people will be going batshit for it. hell, MGS4 is almost enough to sell anyone to the PS3

my dad is buyig a PS3 for the bluray

im going bananas for the MGS4, FFXIII, LBP, and whatever else come sout in the future.

If you still let E3 change your opinion about the Wii after seeing TGS you have a serious problem.

if you knew how to read errors, you'd see he meant "those 3 games".

after having sold my wii, I for one am very satisfied with my Playstation 3. I use it to store many of my media files, the web connection/browser is flawless, and with a 32" LCD tv the Blu-Ray player comes handy. I do admit there still arent that many games, but it looks like the most anticipated ones don't come out until 2009.
