It's probably automatism. You probably typed Waker with Wind still in mind (W*n* w*n***). I sometimes make similar errors because of that.

Pardon my psychology being off-topic Shy

For me, D2 takes gold, D1 silver and D3 bronze. D1 was the trailblazer for the golden age that is D2. D3 was 'too easy going' as it relied heavily on the casual market and later names of franchises (I look at the 3D remakes and the recent 3DS Mario games). Not all is lost: the Wii U will play a major role in Nintendo's conquest over the harcore gaming market, that which they abandoned in favor of the casual market of the Wii. The 3DS also begins to show more of its potential.
D3 could have offered more in the time Wii Sports, Wii Music and basically anything that starts with the word 'Wii' was made. Otherwise it would have easily beaten D1.

Hey where the hell are the Rhythm Heaven games and Donkey Kong Country Returns?

There's quite a few other titles missing on that list too!

the point is not to amass all the good games the decade had, Koopaul.

The picture is just a sample of what games came out in that decade, not necessarily the only good ones.

this list should be a little less hypocrital and present the games that were developed exclusively by nintendo, rather than the games nintendo published.

but you cant do that because if you were to do that, you'd kill 70% of that list instantly, taking with you 1/3 of what are considered "main IPs".

Nintendo's Golden age died with the gamecube. nowdays they're just a huge pair of prehistoric nostalgia glasses, refusing to evolve with the times.

in fact, looking at that list it kinda shows nintendo hasnt even really cared to create new IPs. and they dont even need to do so, as long as they can keep milking more mario spinoffs.

oh okay, you're one of those, great. i wish you knew how wrong you were

i have no clue what decade was nintendo's most golden, i never had an original nintendo or super nintendo, i had a sega genesis, i even skipped out on the N64 because the PS1 had wildly better offerings, with a few exceptions like Mischief Makers. I guess i'd have to say, on the one era i actually experienced, was the one with the most gamecube titles.

Im sure theres plenty of good modern games with creativity and soul...

Just not as many, and I already have so many older consoles I might as well just stick to the 12 consoles I have and build on their libraries.

Gen II for sure, mostly because like almost everyone else, I grew up with them (and mainly because WarioWare, Pokemon RSE, Pikmin, Mario Sunshine, etc.)

The biggest reason is probably because the GBA will always be my favorite handheld.
Well, it'd actually be DS Lite, but that's only bc it's portable and has GBA compatibility.

Gen II, when gaming wasn't annoyingly casual, and the games (and their ideas) were was actually new, creative, and competitive.
Nintendo never tries to wean from the bottle anymore and try out new ideas besides things that relate to the gamepad.

Mario games specifically used to invite tons of new ideas and experiences all the time with every single title, which is why they're timeless and memorable. Now, the new games mostly just bring back old ideas for the sake of Nostalgia. All the new games do is bring back old things rather than make new ones; like "Remember the Koopalings? They're back now haha-yeah! Party woooo!", "Remember the tanooki-tail? Well that's back too-- haha yeah...!".

This is what people mean by the games not having any 'soul' anymore (Not to mention the NSMB like scenery the games have started taking too is getting monotonous as hell...). The new games lack STYLE, they use the same models, scenery, and art style over and over and over again, they've just become fucking cash cows. The latest Mario game in a while that seems to have some form of soul in it is Super Mario 3D Land.

I mean really when will we get more than 8-worlds, an actually different story, a new genre of spinoffs, or a Mario Kart game that doesn't feel exactly like the last one.

your opinion is based solely on nostalgia. "creativity and soul" are timeless, never to be bound to a particular "GEN". saying otherwise is basing yourself purely in your childhood experience when you were basically, a way more naive kid with way less games under your belt.

however, problem arises when the developer doesnt even try to innovate or explore new characters, mainly because they sell games purely based on the title they bear(IE, kirby epic yarn).
