And also, the given items in the game sucked and were almost of no use. The allstar move was just keep it fun for younger kids/bad players. It's kinda a bad ripoff.

That's called "Snaking" and it's been around since Mario Kart 64.

The items are perfectly fine if you know how and when to use them. I found them pretty effective at times. What the team didn't want to do was make the items ridiculously unbalanced, like they are in Mario Kart. The idea was balance and skill.

"Snaking" is a technique from the DS title in which you drift left and right alternatively, to make use of the boosts and get more speed. Drift is a real life thing, I don't see how it's overused, and like I said, drift helps you a lot, especially doing sharper turns. Also, how the fuck do you drift while driving straight.

Snaking requires cross-road drifting? I've always seen it used in context of drifting on straight-aways.

I mean, your definition makes sense, given the serpentine directions, but that's a more strict definition than I've seen in use.

Idk, maybe it's different now? I saw it for the first time when I went on the GameFaqs board for the game and saw people complaining about it, because it was so hard to win any race online without doing it.

Maybe they should step up their game xD

I never snaked on Mario kart, because it isn't fun. One good example of overpowered items in Mario Kart Wii. I have been struck by thunder, hit by a red shell, and after that I was hit by blue shell after that... That's why I hate MKWii. About the snaking thingy, I think there are people who liked it, and people who didn't. And I want SEGA to include some more unlockable music this time like in Generations. In the first one, you could only pick certain tracks for a certain stage. That's stupid.

I don't recall doing a lot of straightaway drifting akin to MKDS' snaking in S&SASR, but then I spent most of my time online playing as Banjo: his turning radius is very wide to the point where I'd have to plan out any turns well in advance and hope nobody hit me due to his poor acceleration.

I do recall people constantly picking Shadow though because they carried over the wheelie boost from Mario Kart Wii without enough weaknesses in his other stats to offset it.

I also recall having to race the first course in the game over and over and fucking over again because that's the only track people ever seemed to set online and you couldn't tell before joining a game. I really hope that's ironed out a bit for this game.
