Yay I rigged The Raptor and even rigged it's jaw to open!

hey I was wondering something.
can you rip from a Operation Genesis Mod?
I've got a film-Cannon mod and a Novel-Cannon mod for the PC version of Operation Genesis. do you think it would be possible to rip the textures from the Mod? the film cannon mod gives the dinosaurs more resemblance to their movie counterparts while the novel-cannon mod gives them more resemblance to the descriptions that Michael Crichton depicted in the Jurassic Park and Lost World novels.

I'm just curious is all. the Diloposaur film cannon mod is very spot on.

are you talking about textures or geometry? if you remember the images I posted of them in google sketchup, the raptors had modded textures to look different. I don't know what you mean by "cannon", but if it's a mod pack made by users, it can be ripped. I'm only ripping the games models, not user mods. Those you can do yourself. Just look up how to mod jpog, and you'll find your answer. I hope these satisfy your request. Also, I'm going to hold off on uploading more models until Peardian looks at these. I'm sure he's busy, so I wanna wait until he's caught up.

thats okay, I just now found out the extra textures could be opened up useing a simple conversion program. well I was really just wondering of methods of extraction that I could do in case I found any interesting meshes in any of these mods.
dis might help explain canon

the mod just makes the models more visually identical to the dinosaurs seen in the film. i've managed to get the textures out myself now luckely....now i just gotta figure out which ones i want to use. the modded textures fit over the ripped models perfectly so i don't have to worry about resizeing them, just editing the teeth transparencies in gimp.

oh BTW.....is this the PS2 or the PC version of Operation Genesis? also do you know any stores that might have a copy of this game? it seems like it would be an enjoyable game. Game Exchange maybe?

if you saw my earlier posts, this is the pc version. I got mine off amazon. Do those mods you found have any good velociraptor textures? similar to the males from the third movie?

yes. yes they do
film cannon mod http://www.jplegacy.org/index2.php?load=...gfcm.shtml
novel cannon mod http://www.jplegacy.org/index2.php?load=...gncm.shtml
the conversion program to open the textures can be acesseded here you probably have it already but u just hit the ConvertCCT link to download it.

the novel mod might seem a little strange if you've never read the book though.

Sorry it's taken me a while to look at these. You're right, I've been quite busy.

Each of the models have some issues that need to be fixed before I accept them.

For the Jurassic Park models, the texture paths in both the DAE and the MTL files need to be corrected. Also, it seems kinda odd to have most of the textures in a separate folder, especially when they include the alpha channel images. Why not include them in the main directory like the other models?

For the Metroid models, I'm not really sure what to say. I can't even open the DAE models. All three of them completely crash C4D. It's odd, because the JPOG models don't crash me, and neither did the earlier MP2 models. Also, the MTLs need to be tweaked a bit. They all refer to TGA files instead of PNG.

first off thank you for finally uploading my submissions! do you have blender? the metroid models seem to import into blender just fine. and what about the mtl and dae texture pahs needs fixed? I know changing. tga to. png is easy, yet what is the other issue?

The texture issue is the same as before: the files reference the path on your computer, meaning they don't import right for anyone that doesn't have your file setup, or an I:\ drive for that matter.

As for Blender, no I do not have it. However, I wouldn't feel right accepting a model that only works in some programs and crashes others.

Sorry Peardian, I didn't want to come off cross (been a tough week), but I figured out the problem. It seems I can't trust blender's DAE exporter. Interestingly enough, I exported the other metroid models with this same plugin, and if they didn't crash you before but are crashing you now, it tells me I can't use it anymore. As for the jurassic park models, if both the dae and obj work fine except for the file path thing, I'll just stick with using accutrans to export my models. These should work, I tested them to make sure, so if they don't, let me know asap. Again, sorry you must be annoyed because new members usually have this problem, and I should know better. Thanks!

Don't worry, I'm not annoyed. It's not really something that I can expect people to know. Anyway, yeah, these new ones all work fine. Everything imports great.

Though, I have to wonder, did any of the Luminoth textures have alpha channels originally? They seem like the kind that would, considering the fur. If they do, it would be best to re-rip them. In the meantime, I'll upload these.

whats really bugging me is the dino damage texture
I have the game now but it never shows up when a dino gets killed and it's corpse is lying around getting eated.

@ Peardian: I think some of the textures are alphas. I'll use another ripper and see

@ valforwing: Do you mean that the dead textures built into the game aren't even showing up, or these? Also about what you said regarding transparency and the dead textures, some are transparent, some aren't. If you want to see the model with the dead texture, all you have to do is rename the texture.
Thanked by:

yeah...the dead textures don't show up. but aparently there is a cheat code that makes all the dinosaurs undead. i have yet to test it out yet.

Sounds like something is wrong with your game. The dead textures always show up by default.
