Why Do You like Your Favorite Game?

4 was... really bad. I don't like anything about it aside from the Free Tournament mode. The translations were terrible, the scenarios were terrible, there were only 3 dungeons, and playing through the game multiple times was a terrible idea.

Final Fantasy Tactics the War of the Lions:

Hero? Check. Best friend? Check. Adversaries? Check. Crystals? Check. Cid? Check. Airships? Check. Job system (arguably the best one in the entire Final Fantasy line.) Check. Hard as shit bosses? Check. Intriguing storyline? Double Check. Side Quests? CHECK. Hmmmm....Choco-CHECK!!

Literally has everything FF games are known for and does everything it was suppose to right, and leaves you satisfied.

i like some of my favorite games because of how utterly cohesive they are: everything works together to produce a fantastic experience; everything from the sounds, to the environments, to the motions of the character, to the level design, to the visual and auditory feedback - all of this coalesces together to create a living, breathing world with a thriving and interesting context. obviously the gameplay mechanics themselves are fantastic and a blast to play with, but it's really everything else that manages to excel it beyond the stew of mediocrity.

in case anyone is wondering i am talking about cv:sotn and super metroid

Everything I listed were FF cliche's as in most if not all are in every game. My point was it's not even in the main series and contains everything people love(d) about the games. The difference is how they were implemented and how well done everything in the world came together.

Shining Force, and then in turn Shining Force 2 and 3. The first is so high on my list even though I've beaten it already just because it was such an awesome strategy RPG. The artwork was gorgeous, as one would come to expect from S/TRPG's. Everything was so detailed. The AI was neither too hard nor too easy. Items were pretty straight forward throughout the whole series, but your army was so customizable. Do you go for pure melee? Do you use archers? Mages? Get the Muramasa and tempt fate? I liked 2 but I think 1 was by far the best. Three is even better, with what they brought to the series and all. Was a shame it ended there. (Shining Force Neo is NOT Shining Force, for anyone thinking to bring it up here.)

And I totally agree with Vipershark about Sonic 2. I've played other Sonic games and 2 is still the only one I truly enjoyed. And playing in Debug Mode was fun too.

My other favorite game I have to list is Gekka No Kenshi, also known as Last Blade. Well, Last Blade 2 to be exact. Same characters of the first one and many more new characters, each with their own relationships to each other. Lots of humor. And the soundtrack... oh my fucking God the soundtrack to that game is fucking incredible. Half the stages have no music, just ambience. The other stages have orchestral music. No techno or pop rock beats to fight to. YOu were fighting with a fucking symphony in the background. The graphics were gorgeous as well. The game was leagues above Samurai Showdown, in my opinion, but lacked the backing of popularity the latter had achieved. And of course the main reason I love that game:

I don't know about this game so I'm not trying to down-talk it but these statements just seemed really silly to me

Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) - I loved it as a kid over Sonic 2 and Sonic 1 because of the save files, so you could run through the game as hyper sonic and hyper knuckles. I love it now mainly because of nostalgia, but also it was a long game (many stages) that has a great special stage system, and great artwork.

In more recent time, Halo: Combat Evolved. It was Halo at it's core, without any of the added crap. It was a good competitive shooter, while being fun to play casually as well. The single player was the best of the series by far with it's interesting setting, the initial surprise of the flood, and the 4 way battles (between sentinels, flood, covenant and you). The weapons also all felt unique without there being clones. Plasma freeze was awesome. The game in general was just great. The best console FPS of all time.

Wait what? because some FF games did not have some of these things and I think you are overreacting about my post. I literally only mentioned that he was in every game.

No no that is not a comeback post I'm just trying to explain add to what you said. "Yeah he IS every game, AND...." That's why it's one of my favorites. Also it was the first PS1 RPG I ever owned.
