Is it at all possible to rip meshes from the N64? If so (which I doubt) how would I go about doing it?

Yes and no.

You would not be able to rip them and make a sheet out of them, as it's a 3d model.

However, you could find a way to rip the model file and convert it into a more usable type. This could then be imported into a viewer or 3d modeling program for different uses, such as using it as reference for drawing/spriting, or for editing/animation/various other things.

Alright, thanks. Do you know of an extraction tool?

Not sure myself, but I found this detailed video by typing "n64 model ripping" into google search.

I've got a ripping question in regard to Genesis rips in particular. I recently forced myself to learn how to use vSNES, which I like a lot despite the fact I only use the program to about 10% of its potential, and I was wondering if any program existed with that degree of layer seperation and tile viewing for the Genesis rather than the SNES.

What I really prefer for the way I capture is layer control, but the problem with one emulator that I have that does allow layers to be removed, 9 times out of 10 the background is black when I'm trying to rip a black-outlined character. So if there's not equivilent of vSNES around for Genesis, I'd be willing to settle on an Emulator with very good layer and palette control, if that is even possible to change a background color and not the sprite. But then again, I still need a tile viewer, because some bosses jump off screen and make it much harder to capture them without actually knowing the tiles.

The only Genesis emulator with layer control I know is Megasis. I'm sure there is another one around, but I recall it always gave me headaches because of my video cards. It's saves are also compatible with many popular emulators so it won't be that hard.
For tile viewers, I guess you should try tile molester, tahaxan (I spelled it right?) and others like that. I myself had some trouble ripping the Adventures of Batman & Robin for the Genesis.

I've always wanted to try Tile Molester, but I need to learn how to make it run. xD

Don't worry, I don't get it either. There are tutorials, but some of them just makes me more confused. Or maybe it's me who over-complicate things.
Sometimes they are the best choice but other you're faster by using animget and try to get the boss to the right pose than to try tiles programs. It's about studying each case, I guess.

Mm, up until a certain point, AnimGet and screenshots were my primary capturing technique, until I learned some VERY basic knowledge about vSNES that helped me a great deal. Unfortunately, that falls short in any other game system. xD

I'm currently ripping more textures than sprites, but now with PSX-VRAM is so much easier to rip 2D sprites from PSx... I with there was a program like that to rip from PS2, DS and PSP :/

Hello i need help... I would like rip NDS sprites but i can't start the game. Can someone help me?
Thanked by:
First you should try different emulators. Not all games run in all of them.
You can try also tile viewing tools, like tile molester, tahaxan and others like that. I'm not a DS ripper, but I would start trying those.

NEVER GETS TIRED

We don't host Roms we find other websites that do and download them from there. As long as we don't host the Roms ourselfs we don't get in trouble.

Also roms are legal as a form of backup. If you have the original cartridge you can keep the rom, otherwise you have to delete it in 24h. In most places, that is, some you can't have the rom at all.
And you can't link to rom sites here either, if you want to do so your post will end up edited and I think you might get warned.
Oh, and we are "spriters" resource, not "roms" resource Wink

Eh. does anyone have a savegame for Luminous Arc 2 with all bonus content unlocked, or an action replay code to do such?
I've been doing a ton of speed runs on LA2 to try and get all of the cutscenes, but then i still need to do the spa crap, and some other random stuff. So far, this: [x]. After ~3-4weeks of speedruns. Ouch! So a save or something would be helpful.

This isn't true. A backup is legal ONLY if it's a backup of the very copy you physically own. Even if you have the game, downloadng a backup of a copy that isn't yours is still illegal. The 24 hours part is also untrue. That just something some early rom site put to try to justify it, and everyone believed/copied it.

Though nobody cares, so go download all the roms you want.

Go reread the rules a bit more carefully. It's a common misconception here that linking to rom sites isn't allowed; in fact, it's quite the opposite. Dazz has explicitly stated that he doesn't care whether you link to rom sites at all here. It's definitely allowed, though trying to host roms here is not.

True, but we're still hosting content that we don't own/didn't create. The same rules still somewhat apply, though like I said before, nobody really cares. If they did, I'm sure tSR (and many other places hosting sprites) would be recieving many Cease and Desist letters and/or being forced to shut down.

About the two first parts it's good to know, thanks for explaining Genki ^_^

The later part, around 5 or 6 years ago a The Sims site got a cease and desist letter from Marvel comics for making Marvel skins. Yeah, that was lame and they never did the same thing again, and I never heard of anything like that afterwards.
