I know that, and I'm sorry for overreacting.
If you would, could you tell me what I could do to fix them?
Would a shorter walking cycle be in order?
And also-
Is having the right palette for the game needed, or can you just put any certain color?

Okay I'll help you. You need to know that all enemies in SMW follow rules. First thing is that standard enemies like Strollin' Stu are equal to goombas and spinies and such. All those enemies are about equal size from height to width.

This sprite is too large. Shrink him down to those proportions.

Sprites do need the right palette to fit in with the right style. Use some colors from a Mario world sheet.

Look at the Goombas animation frames there aren't that many. Copy the way the Goomba moves. Goombas only have three walking frames.

So...
Have Stu have only about 2-4 animations, right?
Should it's feet come off the ground, or stick to SMW style?
I can do the shrinking thing.
Could I just keep the smaller Stu sprite, re-model it, re-color it, and re-animate it?
Would that be satisfactory?
I know i'm asking a lot, and i'm truly sorry for that.

Well if you want thing to be in style you have to do things exactly the way they would. If it's a custom that has no style you are trying to do, then you are given more freedom to make the sprite how you want it.

If you want to make a SMW style Strollin' Stu it would be easier to start over and work off of a goomba sprite. However if you want to improve these sprites that you already have, then you'll need to do something entirely different from what I just posted. The choice is yours. I'll assist you either way.

Make a SMW sprite?

Or your own style custom?

Stop acting like you're inferior and that you don't deserve to get critique. But that's not the point, the point is that when you get comments like this, chances are that the person giving the comment feels you're competent enough to take the post and form some sort of coherent thought as to why they would say that. "this looks like you spend literally 30 seconds on it" should spur some sort of thought that makes you try to figure out what's wrong with it and attempt to fix it yourself without having someone hold your hand every step of the way. It may not be this way on other forums, but here, (most) people don't hold back just because something might hurt your feelings.

A constructive one.

This adds into the last part of 1up's post. The fact that Koopaul gave C+C without being blunt doesn't mean that he's giving PROPER advice. PROPER ADVICE is when someone gives you an advice that is valid, be it blunt or not. I'm tired of seeing people saying 'See? This is the C+C I wanted!', accepting only suave C+C and disregarding any other kind of post.

Well they're new, they're nervous, and don't know what to think.

They shouldn't disregard other people's criticism. You are right. But I know why they do it. It's no one's fault really.

There's a thing called "tact" which Koopaul properly employed in this situation. Usually if you're harsh and blunt, like most critiques here tend to be, they lack tact and end up making the original artist feel backed into a corner. That garners negative results.

Not all nice or less-harsh critiques are bad. Sometimes the confidence boost from a kinder critique will help an artist work harder to improve, so that they can continue to please or gain kind comments.

There's also the fact there's more than one person posting blunt critique in the same fashion. It's like a gang of people showing up to kick the same horse over and over again. Sometimes the horse can get stronger from a few blunt kicks, but there's a point where there's far too much of it.

I'm... Not sure what to say to all this, but something inside wants me to explain why I felt that way.
Again, I'm not entirely sure if I should be saying this, because I really don't feel like dealing with anymore arguments.
I felt bad because I thought the sprite was at least low-level acceptable.
I'm not saying you should feed complements to people, I'm saying being harsh to them isn't always the right way to go. I know it works for some people, the "DO IT BETTER FOOL!" technique,
but for most people (At least, i think so) it doesn't work as well.

...because... I am? Yes, that's it. It's not that I'm saying that all that I make is an epic waste of time, and I know I could do better than that.
And this will sound like I'm being a baby. And, admittedly, I am being one. The criticism wasn't bad, it just wasn't my cup of tea and I didn't click well to it.
And, also, admittedly, I thought people were just being dicks when they commented blunt flaws about it, and I'm sorry for that.
Again, I'm being a baby.
I can't really remember what else I was going to reply to, so........ yeah.
