ITEMS!
But in the Mario games where Starman is applicable, you have no method of attacking side from... jumping on people's heads. So Starman gives you the ability to run through and break enemies.

However, in Smash, you're ALREADY doing that. Making it do damage would be redundant because you can actually attack. Starman wasn't in 64 for a reason.

I'm not really fond of the Dragoon. Are we ditching it or keeping it?

WAIT! I just thought of something. This comment belongs in many topic, but I'm posting it here. Should it be an assist trophy, or an assist card? I mean it should probably be an assist card if we're still going to be ditching trophies.

Oh hey, there was an items topic, cool.

I've had an idea for a while now. SSB has objects that often mimic another characters weapon like the laser gun, baseball bat, beam sword ext. but there are no tether items. I think it would be cool to possible have the grappling hook from WW, or the whip from ST, or maybe some generic tether item as an item in the game that can be used as a weak yet fast weapon, or to grab ledges if timed right.

I thought that there could be some of those 'Battle Items' from pokemon. I know Pokemon already has the Pokeball, but with the Battle items you could have, say, the X Def. which makes the shield last for longer.

Yeah, both of those sound good. Really, really good. I'd use the whip, having three hookshots?
EDIT: You didn't know there was an Items page? I go to the back page of topics everytime I log on to see what might be able to do. We need Marth, Meta Knight, all those things.

Grappling Hook =/= Hookshot, and Toon Link's grab has been changed (as well as most of his moveset).

For Yoshi Series, should the egg make a come back? but of course with a Yoshi Egg design.
Thanked by:
I don't know, but eating them (some of the eggs can be eaten to recover health) would look super-awkward if you're playing as Yoshi.

A Pikmin?

Bassacly acts like a pikmin if you where olimar, but replaces your a moves with olimars B moves(Ecsept up B and B) Even for olimar, it will act like this for a moves. It then disipers after you do 6 moves with it, it dissipers by going into a onion a lifting of, or if somone kills it, it does the death anamation
Thanked by:
Then Olimar would cease to be unique. Don't let your obsession with Pikmin cloud your judgment.

I figured somone would say that...

I decided to make a list of Mario items we could use. This is based off of hat was said here. Let me know what should be deleted or added.

Mario:
Spring Mushroom.
Turns people into springs, (Wouldnt be too hard to sprite, i wouldnt think, just a spring sprite, and lay it over the character sprite), and they could bound high, and slam down on people. Lasts about 10 seconds.

Fire Flower.
Works as usual, as a flamethrower.

Frost Flower.
Works like the fire flower, but freezes people.

Green Shell.
When thrown or kicked, it moves extremely fast, and does a lot of damage. It will run off the arena, or, if it hits a wall, will break instead of bounce.

Red shell.
When thrown or kicked, it moves somewhat slow, and will reverse direction at walls, or edges. It will dissapear after about 15 seconds. Does adequate damage, but not too much.

Blue Spiky Shell. (Super Rare)
When picked up, it immediately flies off stage, and rams into the person winning, (Whether they have the most coins, the most lives, or the most points/KOs), instantly KO-ing them. If the person who uses it is winning, they will KO themselves.

Bomb Omb (Moderatly Rare)
If left alone, this will walk around, (Slowly), and try to make contact with a player. If it fails, it will detonate. If thrown, it will explode, doing about 30% damage, with great knock-back. It can not be thrown very far, however.

Hammer (Super Rare)
Once picked up by the player, they will automatically swing it around, dealing 30%, with great knock-back, every time they hit an opponent.
Any noise annoys an oyster, but a noisy noise annoys an oyster more.
