SPOILERS AHEAD. The plot twist with Double from mega man X4. throughout the game, he seems like a clumsy yet innocent rookie hunter that just wants to aide X. But after defeating Colonel for the second and final time, There comes the reveal that Double was a spy sent from sigma this whole time, and that he is actually a cruel, crazy, and a sadistic maverick followed by a scene of him brutally slaughtering three maverick hunters that makes you question how this game got a KA rating. Then knowing that you are next to be slaughtered. Another surprising video game moment for me was in Pokemon red and blue where after you defeat Lance, he tells you that your rival already beat him and you have to fight your rival one last time for the championship title.
