I think it should keep characters as they are. It's great to see a fangame idea so different from what Nintendo would usually do, but I still think you need to have toads, frog Wart, stuff like that, to still make it fit as a proper fangame. Otherwise it'd be more of a spoof, and then there still wouldn't be an actual Waluigi game.
Of course, they can still be very real-world like, in their actions and all that, but at the very least I think they need to keep their original bodies.
