Cut the cast - way down. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik is all - maybe Amy for a quick ending scene or something. The main problem with most games are the useless characters being in every game (Cream, Marine and even Shadow) and turning it to the Sonic that I don't know/want to know.
A game that respects the classic fans which are now dying like fly sprays (aka classic Sonic design [black eye and all], special stages, Chaos Emeralds not being used as plot device unless it is absolutely needed and minimist story which doesn't need cutscenes) but that is pipe dream.
In my own opinion, SA2 was great with Eggman not being the final boss as well, as you got to play as him.
I agree with the second one, but instead of back to the original five, cut everyone after Cream, only because if there's a Chao Garden, Cream is a character that definitely needs to be playable in that garden (because of Cheese).
I'd also like to see a game with just Sonic going against Eggman again, but this time, actually calling him by the original name, Robotnik. Sonic Adventure 3 is something that must be done, an ACTUAL attempt, unlike Sonic 2006 or what people fear Unleashed to be. Online racing and treasure hunting, along with Chao mini-games would be a must (and I hope the Wii version is not fucked up with controls like Secret Rings was-not that I played it, I mean I'd like to see ONLY GCN and Classic Controller support for the main games, and the Wiimote only possibly come in for the Chao Garden with the Nunchuk. The Wiimote used for petting, throwing, etc.
