Don't worry too much about having to "wing" stuff, as the experiments are where you actually learn more. You don't learn a lot when just replicating existing things!
the lines on this one seems extra wobbly, especially the robot's "backbone". I suggest you to draw it with more sharp edges if that's your intention.

The intent is to replicate here however, not learn. I'm more learning the program with these than i am quantifiable art knowledge. I will take note of the wobble lines though, thanks for pointing that out.
Edit: to clarify, i'm not asking "how do i shade metal" but more "how would the art team behind ghost trick shade metal"
Oh right, I thought this was your custom art style, I wasn't aware of the game. My bad

No worries, I was planning on trying to iron out my own style as the next wave of drawings, and i think Ill take some influence from Ghost Tricks shadows.

I think the final product is passable, but its a lot more unrefined than i wanted to have it, but i had to rush it a little because i'm a bit under the gun

I think this time around your drawing looks better than the rest, probably because you already had a solid reference to start with (the pixelart).
This being said the perspective of her right ponytail-turbine looks odd, and feels like it should be over the white ball instead of under it. Good color scheme too, purple and yellow works well and looks better than the original.
also worthy to note is paying attention to the robot joints and their logical placements!

You said her right...right? as in our left? In the sketch the turbine is over the ball, i just flat colored the ball layer and never did the turbine over it YET.
yeah, i meant HER right (aka our left)
ok then! It looks great, keep it up

You should sorta bump the contrast on the shading by a bit, as it's a bit hard to see, unless I tilt my screen a bit.
I like to make models in my free time. I also make weird games, too.

Ill run it through an image editor at the end, its a bit of a pain to do when you have all the layers still seperate. thanks for the feedback, maybe i should check my monitor settings...
