it looks really cool imo. Kinda like early Sunsoft games (yes, like the weird Superman game, but there are better games like Wing of Madoola), the lack of black lines makes it looks super nostagic.

I think it's moreso as a proof of concept to say "Hey look, I managed to write an NES demake of The Witness and get things to actually work - and that's impressive, especially if it's written in ASM or something. Like, I think that's the entire selling point of this project. It looks like a one-man project so far - like this guy's a programmer first and pixelartist second. I can understand that, and can appreciate the coding effort, but just looking at it doesn't make me want to play it either, lol. Graphics may not be everything in the long run, but they most definitely play a huge role in advertising the game, and getting one interested, as well as bringing out the world. Children's coloring book graphics don't make me personally interested in playing it, but this is one of those instances where I could be surprised by what the gameplay has to offer. It was the same case with Undertale, so who knows, right? Thanked by: miyabi95_

It was the same case with Undertale, so who knows, right? Again, this is a demake of an existing game. The reason you should want to play it is to experience The Witness in NES form, that's the audience he's aiming for. I'm pretty sure he isn't trying to make people who haven't played or heard of The Witness to play it, so he's not worried about making it visually attractive or advertising it. It's just for people to be like "heh that's pretty neat" by putting the mechanics of the original game into a NES game (as an actual ROM, no less). It's niche and free, the effort into getting (and most likely paying) an artist to get other people interested in this just isn't worth it. New Yooka Laylee trailer. Oh god, they had to choose teh most annoying text sound effects ever, lol. But aside from that, it looks like it'd be fun. Something to compete with Ratchet and Clank after all these years x3.

I was burning a bunch of my DRM-Free game installers to discs just in case a Desura happens to any of the other services. Since I just played, and really enjoyed, Life of Pixel (albeit on the Wii U), I decided to give it some special treatment... as opposed to the rest which are basically just stuffed into slim cases in my closet. I might do some of them up pretty as well (Shovel Knight and Guacamelee for sure). No CD label right now, because I don't know how to do those
It also feels nice to have physical "merch" of a game I really liked--particularly since I don't any official products will ever be produced. But a Pixel plush would be cool... Thanked by: miyabi95_, psychospacecow, puggsoy

That trailer is beautiful... It was so simple, but I actually can't wait to play it. It looks like the kind of game that's simply fun to run around and jump in. Just listen to the soft bump of her boots hitting the floor

So I bought Planet Robobot yesterday, because like hell I'm going to let a single day pass between the release of a Kirby game and me purchasing it. Bought all the Amiibo too.
Anyways you might recall me saying earlier in this thread: (03-04-2016, 12:17 AM)Jermungandr Wrote: Mark my words, the robot-suit gimmick is just going to be another temporary power-up like the Super Abilities of Returns and the Hypernova of Triple Deluxe where it's primarily going to exist just to help traverse puzzle-like areas specifically designed for it. Well, I'm happy to report that I was wrong about this. While there are areas of the game where you literally cannot move forward without the Robobot armor, it turns out a lot of the time the armor is actually optional ... even missable, if you're not paying attention. It also does not always appear at the conclusion of a stage; sometimes you might encounter a single room where you have to use the armor to solve a puzzle, but can't bring it with you to the next room. What really makes me giddy though is that there are some levels where there are hidden unnecessary armors that you can pick up. You may encounter a secret door with an armor hidden inside for your use in a regular stage area. It reminds me a lot of encountering a Yoshi in the original Super Mario World ... except for the fact that you can't bring it out of the stage with you. Anyways my point is you should buy the game. WHY HAVEN'T YOU BOUGHT THE GAME YET?!? Thanked by: TomGuycott

I pre-ordered the game a week ago, but it still hasn't arrived yet (serves me right for ordering from Bull Moose just for the free shipping and $5 discount). Can't wait to play it, though; heard there's some really interesting spoiler-worthy stuff in the later parts of the game, so I'm looking forward to that.

Looks like they've come back with a bit of a boom after their little blowup with Deep Silver. I think the game looks like a fun platformer. Not a perfect ideal revival of Rockman, of course, but I think even with all the drawbacks that have happened during development, this game might pull through and gain an audience of oldschool and modern players.

Oh my god you guys you guys you guuuuuuuys!! I just finished the main story mode for Planet Robobot and holy effing shit that final mech ability! I don't want to spoil it for anyone but holy hell I do not think the term "maniacal laughter" has ever been more appropriate for the fit I had when I saw this. The final boss might possibly be the most epic final battle in the entire Kirby franchise HOLY SHIT you guys! Aaaaaah I am still reeling from it.

Crash Bandicoot in the Skylanders though, lol. The original games are getting remastered, but...his model just looks awkward with that realistic style fur on top of a simple design. He looks like a shaggy dog or a pinata.
