The test animation looked very nice!
If you're still looking for some criticism, the issues with the triple jump had to due with incorrect physics.
First, you should know that objects tend to rotate around their center of mass when in the air. Due Mario's flip pose, it's visually closer to the head region than the body (perhaps around the neck area, offset a bit towards the center of the pose?). That's explains the odd looking flip rotation.
The second thing to note is that the center of mass (com) is what follows the parabolic motion. Since you got the com wrong, it looks like Mario's defying physics (not in a good way) because it's moving all over the place instead of following that nice parabolic motion.
Third, Mario isn't reacting to gravity correctly. Realistically, if it took you 5 seconds to jump to peak height, it'll take you 5 seconds to drop back down. Also, the speed at which you rise is mirrored in the speed at which you fall. In the test, the 1st and 2nd jump fall look off because the fall speed is noticeably much greater than their rise speed. The third shows the reverse, where the fall speed is relatively very slow, even though he jumped the highest there.
Of course, you can exaggerate physics, but you need to be consistent.
---
Just because: When you're rotating, if you "tuck" your rotation speed increases (think of a spinning ice skating dancer). When you untuck, your rotation speed decreases. You can use this idea to increases Mario's flip rotation speed at peeks, where he tucks, and decrease rotation speed before landing, where he untucks. Currently, Mario untucks after landing on the pipe. Sure, You don't "have" to untuck, but he doesn't really respond appropriately at the moment. Of course it's a test animation, so this is just for your consideration.
---
Although I wrote a bit, I still think the animation looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing more!

There we go! That makes a lot of sense!
Regarding gravity, I was mostly trying to make the timing uneven since one of my Full Sail professors, Sean Springer, told me that certain parts of the body should go down faster. As a result, I made the graph editor have Mario land down as quickly as possible.
As for the rotation, I guess that serves me right for making all of Mario's principle movements (including his rotations) based on a NURBS circle at the base of his feet. I wasn't thinking it would cause a problem like that. now that I know, I'll see about shifting it way up once I make adjustments to the Mario puppet.
Moving on from that, though, I want to get around to not only writing the script of the short, but also display concept art and other world building concepts. I know this is basically unnecessary since you guys played the games before, but there's actually quite a handful of differences that makes my interpretation of the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond significantly different. Overall, I want to show my ideas to see if they're any good and possibly polish them based on your suggestions.
Anyway, the basic idea is that my stories take place roughly five or six years after the events of the first Paper Mario game, one or two years after the Thousand Year Door, and about six months or so after Super Paper Mario. As for Sticker Star, I'm on the fence of either removing it completely or (as I originally intended) implementing it as some kind of prequel to all the other Paper Mario games. If I go with the latter option, it might actually work with some story ideas I have in mind (such as explaining why Kammy Koopa serves as Bowser's righthand woman). Admittedly, I don't need to talk about these story ideas in full detail for a simple short starring the Koopa Bros., but I'd like to talk about them as I go along since they will play a major role throughout my Paper Mario series and other related fanworks.
The Koopa Bros.: Back in Action
(The title of the short appears over an outside pan of the Koopa Bros. Fortress. I do not know if the fortress should look like it has seen better days or not ever since its appearance in Paper Mario. Inside, we have Red pacing around and sighing in the bedroom of the Koopa Bros.)
Red: *Sigh* Another day of doing jack all…
(Yellow enters the room.)
Yellow: What's eatin' you, Red?
Red: You're the smart one, Yellow, so you should know, right?
Yellow: *Thinks for a moment* Let me guess… It's about how we haven't been involved in any of Bowser's plans in a while, right?
Red: Yeah! Ever since Kammy had to completely give up her place back to blue robes, times were tough around here. Without our underlings, things around the fort went south. A lot of the traps and stuff hardly work anymore. The water inside now looks really funky and I DON'T want to know what's even in there now. As for our jail, for some darned, unexplained reason, people keep escaping from that cell. I know that Mario blew a hole in it years ago with that Bob-omb dame, but come on! Can't we at least keep one prisoner in that thing!? ….. Well, except for that undead weirdo who often pops in and out when we don't want him to.
(As Red is explaining his dilemma, the camera cuts and pans around various parts of the fortress. The hallway with the firebars shows the firebars all burnt out with ashes in their places. When the camera shows the base of entry tower with the pool of water, the green pool of sludgy water bubbles as a octopus tentical rises from it. As for the cell where the Bob-ombs were once held, it shows the inside has graffiti in it. There is a lone Dry Bones collapsed on the floor, but it shortly rearranges its pieces back together and lets out an eerie cackle. When Red is done explaining, the camera cuts back to the bedroom.)
???: By the sound of it, we're better off just making this place a discounted motel just to pay for renovations.
(Red becomes started by this comment as the camera quickly shifts to Black sitting on the bed near him.)
Red: Whoa! How long have you been there, Black!? You gotta stop freakin' me out with that ninja stuff ya keep doin'!
(Green enters the room.)
Green: What's wrong, Red?
Black: Oh, Red is just whining because I snuck up on him during his pointless ranting.
(Red glares at Black.)
Green: Is this about the whole unemployment thing again?
Red: No, I'm just upset that I'm not in the new Smash Bros. game… Of course I'm upset that we're basically bums on the street because Bowser hates our guts!
Green: Really? I thought Bowser was just not interested in us and he had no use for us because he had other minions rthat are way better than we-
Red: Gah! Shut up, ya idiot! He hates us because we lost to Mario!
Yellow: Here's an idea, Red! How about we somehow defeat Mario? Then, Bowser will have to give us a huge raise and give us a cushy spot in his ranks!
Green: But even when we were more powerful than ever before, that Koopa baby still kicked our-
Red: Can it, Green! Anyway, Yellow, you have good idea, but you mind telling me how we're gonna take out the guy that even makes a guy like King B look like a total joke?
Black: Perhaps holding someone he cares about hostage and threatening that person's life would be a smart idea.
Red: You're a genius, Black! Now who shall we kidnap then? We can't take Mario's girl since I bet they have the castle under tight guard after all the times our boss tried to take her.
Green: Surprisingly, they never thought to invest in better security over at the Mushroom Cast-
Red: I got it! We'll kidnap one of those twerps that traveled with him during the whole Star Spirits thing!
Green: Or Luigi, who is relatively easy to cap-
Red: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Green. We know you want to wow us with your "big brain" and stuff. Very cute… Now then, anyone up for a trip to Goomba Village?
(Red and Yellow make their way to the door. Green looks at Black, who uses stylish jumps to leave the room. Green sighs as we walks out of the bedroom.)
***
(The scene changes to Goomba Village. The camera is slowly panning outside of the main house to the left.)
Goombario: (From inside the house) Aw, come on, dad! Must I really do that?
Goompapa: Son, I know it's your job around the household to headbonk any varmints who visit us, but the last time anyone visted us at all was two months ago, and it was only the tax collector.
Goombario: You seemed to be so eager for me to headbonk such a nice guy.
Goompapa: Well, he might be nice to YOU, son! Anyway, you're ma has been pestering me to plant new Goomnut Trees on the property. I ain't gonna get my hands dirty and it's time you start pulling your weight around the house.
Goombario: When you say "hands," you mean that figuratively, right?
Goompapa: … Less sass and more work, young man.
Goombario: Alright! Yeesh! I actually was on my way to do that before you got so miffed…
(Goombario steps outside with a spade and heads over to a vacant patch of dirt. He starts digging in the ground with a Goomnut beside him. Shortly afterwards, the camera pans over to the entry gate with the Koopa Bros. close to it.)
Red: I think I can see the little squirt playin' in the dirt over there. Yellow, help me up!
(Yellow nods as he gives Red a boost to climb onto the gate.)
Green: Ah, I see where this is going. You're going to sneak up on that guy an take him when he least expec-
Red: YO! CHESTNUT TWERP!
(Green look dumbfounded as Yellow rolls his eyes and Black facepalms.)
Red: I'm back for revenge and I'll be seeing to it that I take out Mario. Since you don't have plumberboy to get ya out of this one, we'll easily mop the floor with you! It's best you give up now, shrimp!
(As Red is making his threats, Goombario makes a quick eye dart over to the gate. He only shakes his head as he resumes digging in the ground.)
Red: I'm not kidding! I'm just about to jump off this gate as I go over there and kick your butt! So, surrender now, you little-
(During most of his threats, Red rocks the gate back and forth. Before he could finish his last line, the gate finally gives away and falls flat to the ground. While Red is dazed, the other Koopa Bros. and Goombario are shocked to see the damaged he caused. The camera quickly pans over to the house as an angry Goompapa emerges from it.)
Goompapa: Confound it! I just fixed that gate!
Red: Wha…? *Comes to his senses* RUN FOR IT!
(As Black makes his escape with a smoke bomb, Red quickly gets up and tramples Yellow in the process. Green tries to get him up, but he is too late as Goompapa grabs Yellow.)
Goompapa: Alrighty! This'll be the last time you turtles even think to break my gate!
(Goompapa drags Yellow away as Green watches in horror. The camera cuts to Goombario from behind. As he turns around, he watches Goompapa offscreen delivering gruesome beatings and ranting about the broken gate and Bowser to Yellow. Goombario reacts accordingly and clenches his eyes shut for the more powerful blows.)
Any thoughts or suggestions on what I have so far?

(After a lot of running, Red is out of breath as he reaches the beginning of World 1-1 of the original Super Mario Bros. Black is already there waiting for him. Red looks around at his surroundings. As expected, there are a few visual gags.)
Red: *Panting* Finally… I think… I lost him…
Black: I take it he was more than you could handle, Red?
Red: Shu-shut up! It's not like you were left behind to take that nut job out!
Black: It was called a tactical retreat. He was not worth my time.
Red: Ye… Yeah! That's it! It was a tactical retreat! I defeated Goombas far tougher than he was anyway!
Black: I'm sure you did…
(Red glares at Black. Just then, Green enters the scene with a wounded Yellow on his back.)
Red: *Quickly turns around* Whoa! What happened to you guys!?
Green: I'm fine, Red, but Yellow got thrashed something fierce.
Red: Ah, he'll be fine! How'd you even get through that scrape without even a scratch?
Green: Well, I offered to fix his fence for him and he was surprisingly nice to me! Speaking of which, he insisted that I have this for my hard work! *Shows the others a munch of coins*
Red: *Slaps away the money* Never mind your boy scout earnings!
(An emotionally hurt Green starts picking up the scattered coins.)
Red: Look, guys, we couldn't even kidnap Mario's weakest partner by ourselves, so it's clear that we don't have much of a chance of taking anyone else. We need a new plan and fast! Besides, it's not like our next big idea is going to smack s clean in the fa-
(As Red is talking, he turns around and starts walking in the opposite direction. He does not pay attention as he smacks into the giant Koopa, Kent C. Koopa.)
Kent C. Koopa: My, oh my! If it isn't my old sparring buddies from Koopa Village! Fancy meeting you here of all places! Yes, indeed!
Red: Kent C.! Small world, ain't it? You here for another one of those scams you keep pullin'?
Kent C. Koopa: Why, yes I am, my friends! I found this lovely road to close off for a modest toll! I haven't seen a path this perfect in a handful of years! Why, I even heard that the last time a certain plumber has been treading on it was about twenty years or so, which means that it won't end as badly as my last tollbooth scheme!
Red: Yeah… Knowing Nintendo's love for exploiting nostalgia, a part of me's doubting your sources… *Gets an idea* Oh! Kent C.! Ya wouldn't mind doing a favor, would ya?
Kent C. Koopa: Well, well! For a friend like you, I'd give you the world! …. Of course, it's nothing personal, but I don't just give my help to anyone… Not without a little… *Wiggles fingers* Compensation… If you know what I mean.
(Red thinks about this for a little while, but after noticing that Green picked up all his coins, it finally clicks. To confirm this, he gives a sly grin to Green, who doesn't know what to make of it.)
***
(The scene changes to Pleasant Path. There is an obvious pitfall trap and the Koopa Bros. are partly seen in a nearby tree.)
Green: I get that you guys think I'm stupid, but even I know this trap's not gonna work.
Red: Watch and learn, Green. Yellow has everything covered… Oh! Wait-waiti-wait! Shhh… Here he comes!
(Parakarry is seen flying across the path from the left. He suddenly stops to look at the obvious trap.)
*Note: I hope you don't mind this, but I'd like to make Parakarry sound a little like Goofy of Disney fame. Of course, I'll be voicing him.*
Parakarry: Well, how about that? I reckon someone tried to trap me. Bet they didn't take into account that I can fl-
(Suddenly, a cage erupts from the ground and snags Parakarry.)
Parakarry: Gwarsh! What the-!?
Red: *From offscreen* Heh! We already knew about your wings long before we even built that trap, ya rube!
(The Koopa Bros. jump in and do their stylish introduction poses. Yellow, of course, has a bit of trouble since he has to use a stick to lean on.)
Parakarry: Aw, dang nabbit! You fellers again! Can't y'all leave a public servant alone as he delivers the mail around the kingdom?
Red: Since you mentioned it, we ain't actually going to do jack squat to you.
(Yellow presses a button on a remote and the cage sinks back into the ground.)
Yellow: Don't get too excited, though. Just because Red said that we'll leve you alone doesn't mean that our friend will.
Parakarry: Wait, friend?
(Kent C. Koopa falls from the sky.)
Kent C. Koopa: Well, oh, well! I thought I've seen you somewhere before! If I'm not mistaken, you're one of Mario little, friends. Yes, in-diddle-lee-dee! You know, ever since I lost to our mutual friend, I've been having a hard time finding a steady buisness proposition that pays very well.
Parakarry: Welp, I could just git you a job over at the postoffice if it's money troubles that yer havin'.
Kent C. Koopa: Never mind the money, friend. I'm here for a little revenge. Since you are all alone and I'm just as big and strong as I was on that day years ago, you don't stand much of a chance. Quite frankly, you'll do yourself a favor by surrounding to my friends right over there. Still, if you're that set on picking a fight with me, here's what I'll do for you. I'll let you have the first pop at me. I don't think you'll able to do much against my hard shell, but give it your best shot anyway, friend!
(Parakarry says nothing as he reaches into his delivery bag and pulls out a Sleepy Sheep. With the power of the item, he summons a flock of sheep to pass by Kent C. Koopa. Afterwards, it takes a little bit of time before Kent C. Koopa falls asleep. Parakarry then flips him over and knocks him into the river in the typical Koopa Shell fashion. The Koopa Bros. are shocked that Parakarry dealt with their ally so effortlessly.)
Parakarry: Ya know, fellers. Tamperin' with the mail is a serious offense. How about I just leave you with a warnin' and forget this ever happened?
Red: Well… Ummm… Errrrr… SIC 'IM, BLACK!
Black: I'm on it!
(A fight scene breaks out between Parakarry and Black. I won't go into too much detail because it's best if I show it instead of tell it. Of course, there's a bit where Red is doing mock punches, like some characters do on the sidelines during more serious fight scenes.)
Green: *During the fighting* Shouldn't we be helping Black, guys?
(The fighting continues until the point Black has Parakarry in a headlock. It looks like Black is about to win this fight…)
Red: Yeah! There you go, Black! Smash his face into the ground! Slit his throat wide open! Post embarrassing pictures of him on the web!
(Red's cheering is so loud and obnoxious that it distracts Black enough for Parakarry to counter the headlock and flip Black over.)
Red: Oh! Umm… Errr… *Looks around until he finds a rock* Ah-ha!
(With great effort, Red lifts the rock up to his chest and then tosses it. Unfortunately, it ends up knocking Black on the head. Parakarry lets go from his hold on Black.)
Parakarry: Tell ya what, fellers. I'll just let this one slide. Besides, I ain't had this much fun since the whole Star Rod incident years ago! See y'all later!
(Parakarry flies off to resume his duties. I think he should drop a letter by accident during this point. After Black gets up from his back, he walks angrily by Red.)
Red: Errr… Heh-heh… You aren't mad about that little slip-up, right, Black?
(Black quickly turns around to Red. He points to both his eyeballs with two fingers on his hand and then swiftly points them at Red. He then turns around to resume his walk.)
Red: Ummm… Well…. Aw, I'm sure he'll cool off soon enough anyway! Not like it's the first time he was this cheesed off, right?

(The scene cuts to the outside of the Koopa Bros. Fortress. There is a sign that reads "Additional Koopa Bro. wanted." The scene then cuts back to the bedroom of the Koopa Bros. The most notable thing is that any and all times and furniture belonging to Black are gone. As for the remaining three Koopa Bros., they are lounging around in a bored, depressed manner.)
Red: Any other bright ideas, guys?
Green: Personally, I don't think we're getting much luck with kidnapping any of Mario's party, so how abotu tryign a new plan?
Red: ……….. Any other bright ideas, Yellow?
Yellow: It not like those two are the only guys on Mario's team, so how about trying our luck with the rest of them?
Red: Hm, not a bad idea! We should be able to nick at least one of them. So… Going to Lavalava Island is a no-go since none of us can't swim and there ain't anyone in Toad Town willing to take the likes of us there…
(Green makes a comment about how he can swim, while Red was talking. Obviously, he was ignored.)
Yellow: Don't forget that we aren't exactly welcome in Koopa Village, so that crosses off two more on the list.
Red: Hmmm… What about that guy who keeps calling himself Spike?
Green: You mean Lakilester? Isn't he the guy with that scary girlfriend?
Yellow: Oh yeah… The last guy who looked at him funny ended up having a Spiny Egg surgically removed.
Red: Yeesh! Okay, so that doofus is out! How about that ghost chick? What's her name? Lady Boo?
Yellow: Lady Bow, Red. Still, she is a Boo, so I get why you'd get her name confused.
Green: Wait, isn't she the owner of that haunted house near the edge of the Forever Forest?
Red: Well, where else would a ghost live, ya Scaredy Rat?
Green: No, it's not that! It's just that the guy who guides travelers through the forest has gone into hiding ever since people took note of him making frequent trips to the bushes outside of that ghost house. They said that he sped right through town dropping a trail of Strange Leaves the moment they saw Tayce T. getting woozy after baking too many of those Strange Cakes for him. Without that leafy guy's help, getting through the Forever Forest is really difficult now.
Red: Grrr…
(Red lunges at Green and grabs him by the neck.)
Red: Gosh darn it, Green! Must you be a buzzkill!? I'm sick of telling why we can't kidnap any of Mairo's partners!
Green: *Franticly* Wait-wait-wait! There's Watt! There's Watt!
(Red lets go of Green out of confusion.)
Red: What?
Yellow: He means Watt as in the yellow baby sun thing. Mario saved her from some ghost who kidnapped her a while back.
Red: Kidnapped, eh? *Grins and rubs hands together* What are you waiting for, boys!? If we play our cards right, we might get a professional kidnapper on our team to take care of the rest of those chumps! To the Toy Box!
(Red and Yellow rush out of the room, while Green is picks himself and breaths heavily. He then slowly walks forward.)
***
(The scene cuts to the outside of the Big Lantern Ghost's room in Shy Guy's Toy Box. The scene cuts again to the inside of it, which is extremely dark.)
???: Wee hee hee hee… Glad you could join me… In the dark…
Red: No offense, dude, but there's no way we'll be able to work out a deal when it's so pitch black, like this.
(There is the sound of a light switch clicking as the lights in the room turn on. It is revealed that Red has activated a comically large light switch and he is accompanied by Yellow and the Big Lantern Ghost.)
Big Lantern Ghost: Gah! I hate the light!
Yellow: Be reasonable, man. We'll let you return to the darkness once we finish our business here. Are we good?
Big Lantern Ghost: Oh yes! Indeed! Now then… Wee hee hee… What exactly do you have on your mind…?
Red: See, we heard that you kidnapped one of Mario's friends a while back, so I was wondering if you'll do it again… And maybe kidnap the rest of 'em.
Big Lantern Ghost: Ah… You mean the infant who is smooth and electrifying to the touch…? For a proposition, like this one… I will gladly do this without price… Of course, to effectively make the most of my services... I require just a handful of… Favors…
(Yellow is a little skeptical when he was describing Watt, but Red only reacted when he mentioned that he'll do it for free.)
Red: Aw, sweet! Okay then, pal, a few favors for your help is no skin off my nose, so shoot.
Big Lantern Ghost: Wee hee hee… I am ever so glad you are willing to do this… Now then… My first request is that one of you should take these supplies to the town's chef... Make sure that she cooks them all up into something yummy…
(The Big Lantern Ghost shows the Koopa Bros. a pile of multiple items. There are pitchers of Honey Syrup, Fire Flowers, Volt Shrooms, Lemons, Limes, Coconuts, and Jars of Jammin' Jelly. Of course, most of the pile consists of bags of Cake Mix. Yellow is a little uneasy by what he sees.)
Red: Mmm… mind if I have some of those treats for myself?
Big Lantern Ghost: Of course… I wanted those made to share with others… Now then… For my second task… I would like you take take this paint and use it to give that truck over there a fresh coat of paint…
(He hands the Koopa Bros two cans of white paint and points to a life-sized toy truck. Red is annoyed by the prospect of manual labor, while Yellow is sweating.)
Big Lantern Ghost: Once you two are done with your chores… We can then force my truck outside the Toy Box and into the real world… Since the house that contains this world is in a neighborhood… This will allow my plan to be almost instantly set in motion… Wee hee hee hee…
Red: Whatever, dude! As long as it means that we'll kidnap that baby sun thing and the rest of those chuckle-heads, I'm up for pretty much anyth-
(Yellow couldn't stand it any longer and grabs Red by the collar to drag him out of the room.)
Yellow: NOPE! NO! No! No! NO! We're done here, Red!
Red: Ack! Yellow! What are you doing!? Just when things are about to get goo-
Yellow: I said… WE'RE DONE HERE!
(It cuts outside where Yellow is still dragging a ranting Red. Green manages to catch up when he notices his two friends goign in the opposite direction. He don't know what to make of it, but then he catches the eye of the Big Lantern Ghost leaving his room.)
Big Lantern Ghost: Wait! Come back, my friends! We have so much to cover and no one else was willing to help me with my deeds!
(Green is still confused by what is going on, but he suddenly notices a wanted poster on a nearby wall. After a careful look, it turns out that it is a wanted poster for the Big Lantern Ghost. Green looks at the Big Lantern Ghost and tilts his head in an awkward way.)
***
(The scene cuts back to the outside of the Koopa Bros. Fortress. Yellow is still dragging Red, but he suddenly drops him in front.)
Red: What was that for, Yellow!? Everything was going well until you ruined it!
Yellow: Seriously, Red!? If you take into account of what happened today, I don't want to hear anything negative coming out of your mouth! Not only did you blotch up a perfectly good chance of a sneak attack, but I ended up getting thrashed by some psychotic father over a BROKEN GATE that YOU broke! Then, you paid some condescending mercenary some money that wasn't even yours to begin with, just so that he could be easily defeated by a completely stupid weakness! If that's not bad enough, you completely destroyed Black's advantage TWICE IN THE SAME BATTLE! I was already stressed out by Black leaving the team, but when you were completely oblivious to to all those red flags that Lantern Ghost guy gave off, I didn't want to have any part of that! What's worse is that you're acting like I messed up something really big here when I was trying to SAVE YOU from doing something COMPLETELY STUPID that would land you in MORE TROUBLE than even kidnapping any of Mario's party members! Heck, not even Bowser of all people would stoop to that kind of low that creep was trying to!
(Yellow is out of breath at this point, while Red is shocked and emotionally hurt.)
Yellow: Look, Red… I'm sorry that I came off as overly harsh. I just had a stressful day and I only want to cut the losses at that and move on. I'm not going to leave you or think of you less as a friend, but you gotta understand that some ideas aren't always the best and continuing them are just not worth it sometimes. I know I was the one who partially suggested the kidnapping idea, and I regret the whole thing. If you'll excuse me, Red, I need to watch some TV to cool myself off before I think of any reasonable ideas to deal with Mario.
(Yellow enters the fortress. Red then looking at the ground and walks inside shamefully. The scene cuts to the first corridor of the fortress with the cells and the upper block shifting puzzle. Red is still walking in that regretful way. He eventually passes Yellow, who is tied up and gaged. Red does not take much notice of it at first, but when he finally realizes it, he jumps back to make a double take.)
Red: YELLOW! WHO DID THIS TO YOU!?
???: *Says this when Red says "you"* Oh!
(Red looks around for the source of the voice, but when he manages to look up, he is surprised to see Mario sitting up on the higher part of the corridor. He then jumps down from it to be at Red's level.)
Red: What the-!? How did you even… Oh no… Don't tell me… You were watching us the whole time, weren't you?
*Note: Mario actually hides in several parts of the scenes throughout this short.*
Mario: *Nods his head* Mm-hmm.
Red: …… And I take it that you want to beat me up for all the trouble I caused, right?
Mario: *Cracks his knuckles* Mm-hmm…
Red: Oh boy… Ummmm… Any chance of mercy if I promise to never treat my friends or anyone else like dirt again? Come on! I'll even kiss your feet and everything! What do you say, buddy?
Mario: *Thinks about it for a bit, but shakes his head* Nn-nnn.
(Red only looks that the camera straight on with an expression that shows that he is in major trouble.)
*Credits*
(After the credits, Green enters the same corridor with a big bag of coins.)
Green: Guess what, guys? I just captured some weird ghost guy and got a heck of a lot of money as a bounty on him! I bet we could use this to repair the fortress and hire a lot of our guys back, including Bla…
(The camera shifts to a brutally beaten Red, while an untied Yellow is nursing him back to health.)
Green: Errrr… Heh, heh… Maybe now's not the best time to bring that up…
(Green walks backwards and closes the door behind him.)
Do you like it, guys? What suggestions would you have in mind? Did I go a little too far with any of this?

I take it that the script is fine, so it's about time I move onto something a bit more visual. Besides tackling concept art, I'm going to make some developments on not only adjusting the Mario puppet, but also creating some completely new puppets. I know it makes the most sense to take on the Koopa Bros. first, but I wanted to start on the man in green as a request form someone I know on Deviant Art.
Since Luigi shares not only similar poses, but also practically identical parts to Mario, I do not need to spend as much time on Luigi as I did with Mario. What do you think of the first sketch of him? I think it looks okay, but I can't shake the feeling that the feet are too big. On top of that, the body looks like it's sagging too much, so I might try adjusting that.
As for the Mario corrections, I only tweaked the ear so far. I not only attempted to rotate it into a better position, but also made it bigger. Do you like the sketch for that so far? Also, I'm playing around with the idea of giving Mario (and Luigi by extension) arm folding poses, much like Bowser's. The one on the right is my first attempt, while that other two are better attempts that show the hands at different angles.
What would you guys suggest?

It bothers me to no end that you used that incorrectly-assembled Luigi as a reference.
This is from Super Paper Mario, but assembled correctly nonetheless.
In your final sketch, he looks to be facing too far towards the camera.

There we go! I was hoping to see a better reference than that one in the sprite sheet! While I appreciate Stooben for ripping the sprites to use as a reference, the way he assemble some of the characters is bizarre. I mostly used a modified version of that sprite to compare size differences between Mario and Luigi and looked at Luigi's official artwork for additional references (I'm able to do this on a second screen).
In spite of all that, though, I made the proper corrections than I hope make it so that I can move onto more parts.
Also, I started on this beauty! I know it's not a Koopa Bro., but I needed to create the base Koopa before taking on any Koopa characters. As a result, I can also work on the Koopa Bro. at the same time as I work on the normal Koopa. With that said, do you see anything I need to change?

I haven't told you guys about this, but I had a Skype session with Virt to refine a few of the sketches I posted before. I didn't want to post any progress until I did a bit more than that.
I didn't want to do anything else with Luigi until I sketched some more parts for Mario. I think I could get away with mirroring a few of them from one set of poses, but I made a few new hand poses just in case. On top of that, I not only finished the new ear sketches, but also made new mouth sketches. Of course, I'll only keep one of them the same because I am able to rotate it for additional animation (i.e. the way Doopliss as Mario talks). Got any suggestions?
Also, here's my refined Koopa.
I sketched a rough idea for the Koopa Bros.' collar that will allow me to get away with flipping it. I hope you don't mind that the yellow bit is a stripe instead of a button since it looks more appealing to me.
By the way, the New Paper Mario retexture project by Nelde gave me some inspiration on how I should tackle the Koopa Bros.

I thought creating this map would be a simple task, but it turned out that it really burned me out and piecing together multiple places in a logical made me use a lot of brain power. As a result, not a whole lot of locations have as much thought and detail put into them (i.e. Isle Delfino). While I did an okay job with showing were most of the locations are geographically, I'm very displeased by the overall scale. A big problem relating to that is how I made Princess Peach's Castle and Toad Town bigger than they needed to be. There are a lot of places that are a whole lot bigger than those two locations are (take Dinosaur Land for example, which fits in the space of town and the castle grounds), so it causes a lot of locations to appear in some pretty odd spots and be severally downscaled as a result. It got even worse when I tried to make more locations larger to counter that oversight. I guess it serves me right for using the Mushroom Kingdom map from Paper Mario as a base, which shows Toad Town to be much larger than any other location in the game.
In spite of that, I think I did a good job linking together the Shiver Mountain Range and Forever Forest with Fahr Outpost's area and the Twilight Town area respectively. Heck, the main reason why I even wanted to make this map in the first place was to show how the overworlds from the first two Paper Mario games linked together in my fanon. Of course, since I knew that the Mushroom Kingdom had more than those two places and there's actually some places that I do want the characters to visit that haven't appeared in other Paper Mario games (World 1-1 is a recent example), I just had to squeeze as many of those locations in there; however, I wasn't exactly able to include all the locations seen in Mario games. There are good reasons why I did not include places like Flipside and the worlds from Super Mario 64 (in the case of the latter, I think that they are more like pocket dimensions created by Bowser and the Star Power). As for other locations, those have various different reasons why they are excluded from the map.
In the case of the Mario Kart race courses, trying to include them would mean that they would not only dramatically change the face of the kingdom, but also I fear some of the racecourses might overlap with each other. A big example are all the racecourses that have Princess Peach's Castle incorporated into the track (including that one course where you actually drive into the castle in Mario Kart 7). It makes it even worse that each racetrack shows a different layout for the castle grounds, which makes my job for creating a reasonable map a lot harder. True, the layout of the Mushroom Kingdom changes dramatically for each game (the whole Mushroom Kingdom in Partners in Time is mostly unrecognizable compared to its direct sequel counterpart), but I do want to keep some level of consistency with my version. Besides, even though this map is mostly based on the Paper Mario one, I ditched how Peach's Castle and grounds look in that game in favor of how they look in Super Mario 64. As a result, I'm not above with making a few creative differences when I need to. By the way, before you ask, I'm not up for making multiple versions of Peach's Castle throughout the kingdom. I can understand why Bowser would have multiple version of his own castle, but does the Princess need to have more than one castle (especially with the questionable state of the Mushroom Kingdom's economy)? Sure, the idea of having multiple castles as decoys could work, but still…
Now, in regards to why I didn't include almost any specific Mario levels for the platforming game, it's just that I did not know how to include those properly without causing a lot of clutter. I know those locations are the heart and soul of the Mario franchise, but if you really look at them, they are (for the most part) nothing more than a collection of platforms and the like scattered around. There is no reason why I needed to include them in full depth, so I mostly omitted them. On top of that, the other reason why I didn't include them relates to a similar idea I had about why the Mario Kart tracks are not on the map. I think Bowser was the one who arranged the layouts of those levels in the first place, so they were more or less temporary deals that may as well fall into decay or demolished to make room for new levels. The same an be said about the various Mario Kart tracks. Someone probably built them for that moment in time and then dismantled some of them when they are no longer needed. It would probably explain why there are multiple racetracks that have Peach's Castle as a landmark. Of course, with all that said, I did at least include the first four or so levels from the original Super Mario Bros. Considering the iconic status of World 1-1, it would make sense to keep it around as a historical landmark.
There's a similar reason to why I didn't include specific worlds on the map (specifically anything from the New Super Mario Bros. games and Super Mario Bros. 3). They are just hard to include without cluttering the whole map up. I understand how important those games are to the Mario canon, but hear me out on this idea. What if I make some of the currently existing locations fall within the boundaries of those levels (i.e. make some of the Super Mario RPG overworld part of Pipe Land)? I know it's not the most optimal approach, but it's either that or I somehow squeeze them in as their own locations (or probably make them islands or something). On top of that, with the exception of New Super Mario Bros. U (trying to make that overworld fit logically will be a nightmare), non of worlds in the New Super Mario Bros. games have specific names. That means that, for example, the desert overworld in the first game or two could either be in Gritzy Desert or Dry Dry Desert. Also, if you're worried about the kings from Super Mario Bros. 3, don't be. My plan is to replace several of them with other government officials who may or may not be kings to begin with. People like King Nimbus and Booster to rule Sky Land and Pipe Land respectively come to mind. Of course, I'll see it as a great achievement if I successfully incorporate the King of Water Land into my stories. If you recall his appearance, you'll understand why.
As for Sarasaland, including it would mean that I have to include Princess Daisy. It's not that I have much of a problem with her. It's just that her character does not have any specific history compared to Peach's character. Even though she has a better, more active personality, she is basically Luigi's answer to Peach and I don't find that extremely interesting. Even though I'm willing to put her in there, I just won't do it without a major overhaul of her character and history. She'll still be as active as she is now, but the ideas I have in mind would be a huge departure of her own character that might make some people uncomfortable. It won't be anything that perverted, but let's just say that I'll be taking a little inspiration from a piece of Mario media some people wish it didn't exist. I know it's silly to include Mario Land and not Sarasaland, but the reason why I'm including the former is that it contains a moment in my Mario fanon that deeply develops Mario's character and shapes him into the hero he is today. It just didn't feel right to include it. Who knows? I might end up including both Sarasaland and Daisy in the future. If that were to be the case, then I'd put Sarasaland in the southern ocean as an island nation, like how Australia is.
Whew! That certainly was a mouthful! Now that I talked about why certain locations are not on the map, I'll share a little insight on some of the locations on the map. One thing you'll notice right off the bat is that I included not only the worlds from the Rare Donkey Kong games, but also a few places from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. I realize that those locations are more like Microsoft locations than Nintendo ones, but since those are two of my favorite games growing up and they were originally Nintendo worlds, I just had to include them. Besides, since I heard from somewhere (probably the Rare Scribbles) that Banjo is part of the Brother's Bears, it makes sense to include Spiral Mountain as part of their territory. Also, before you say anything, I know that where the Brother's Bear live is supposed to be an island south of DK Island and I heard that Spiral Mountain is part of the Isle o' Hags. It felt right to me that these places should be on the mainland as opposed to making them islands. On a related note, I actually wanted to include the Kingdom of the Fairy Panther King on this map (it would have been north of the Brothers Bear's land). I just couldn't make it fit in a good way, so I had to drop it.
Speaking of the Brothers Bear's land, I know it's supposed to be called the Northern Kremisphere. My logic is that the Northern Kremisphere is not just one place, but rather the entire northern half of the planet this world is on. Basically, my reason is that I needed to call the planet something. I originally went with the generic, uninspired name of Virtual Planet many years ago, but when I went to Lemmy's Land, I adopted Plit as its name. That went fine for a while, but I eventually dropped the name when I found out that the world "plit" actually has a very dirty meaning. After a while, I recalled the name of the Donkey Kong Country 3 overworld and used it as a base for a completely new name: Kremis. On top of that, it even leads to a possibility of exploring the history of the planet and the Kremling race. Now, even though I have a new name for the planet, I still lack a good name for the Brother Bear's world. I would go with Bear Country, but that's already taken…
In regards to places like the Golden Pyramid and Crocodile Island, I know that they are destroyed. I just put them on the map to show their general placement because just showing an arrow wouldn't do those places justice.
I noticed this right after I drew Poshley Heights. It seems like the track for the Exsess Express is a bit shorter than the track leading to Mt. Rugged. I know that this is due to my failure to scale things properly, but I find it ironic that the fastest locomotive in the Mushroom Kingdom takes three days to travel on a track that is shorter than the one traveled by an ordinary locomotive that can easily clear in a fraction of that time. ^^;
Even though I labeled most of the locations, I didn't exactly label all of them because I figured that you could use your general knowledge of the games to identify some of the places on your own. Of course, I thought it would be necessary to lable some places that you might not recognize right off the bat, such as Joke's End and the Old Clockworks.
As for original locations, I didn't exactly include many. I did have plans to do such a thing, but I didn't want to invest too much in ideas that'll easily be shot down. Heck, even placing the ruins of the Mushroom King's Castle was a bit of a risk because I'm not sure if you guys would like my story involving a French Revolution-like event that took place a few hundred years ago that was a revolt lead by Toadsworth's ancestor that overthrew the tyrannical Mushroom King.
Well, that's all I have to share for now. I'm terribly sorry I basically wrote a novel about something as simple as a map from a game about plumbers stomping turtles. There was a lot for me to cover and I wanted to discuss it when it was still fresh in my mind. If there are any questions you wish to ask, please let me know. I'm also up for suggestions to fix the geography for this map because some of the locations are places in very improbable areas. Heck, I'm not pleased with the locations of Cavi Cape and Plack Beach because I just threw them in at the last minute since I forgotten about them.

So, Midi/Kelvin and ShadeDBZ mentioned that Photobucket isn't all that it's cracked up to be and makes it hard for them to see the full map as a result. As a temporary fix, I'll just upload the original version of the map on my Dropbox for you to view.

Anyway, due to their suggestion, I'm consideirng using another image host for now on (likely Minus) once I make the proper adjustments to my Paper Mario sheet.
Speaking of which, I created the inked parts for not only that, but also for the fist few parts for my other two or three characters I am working on.
Tried to make the ears look like they are pushed out less, much like Xander suggested and I even scaled them up. Do you like them? By the way, I know that the new mouths do not have a complete outline compared to the old versions, but it's the best I could do without having any outline troubles pop up. Also, when I join the mouths together with the head, the outlines might connect in a way that causes an awkward angle. I'm sorry about this.
There's not much to say about Luigi because I'm more or less pleased with the final results. I could probably make either his left arm thinner or his right arm fatter now that I look at it, though. Of course, the one part I did without a sketch is the opposite facing L on his hat. It's nothing too big. I just wanted to get it out of the way since it was a good time to do that. As for the lack of hands and feet, Luigi is borrowing those from Mario. Understandably, I'm glad that I don't have to basically recreate parts that I could simply reuse.
While I was working on the right arm, I couldn't help but notice how small it was compared to the left one. With that said, I made a larger version. What do you think of it? By the ay, before you ask about the solid feet shapes, I'll ket you know right off the bat that those are for an experiment I wanted to try to speed up my coloring process. I'll let you know if the final results turn out well.

I already colored some of the inked Paper Mario parts, but I just wanted to show you guys the mouth poses in action, since they were bothering me the most.
Before you ask, I just grabbed an older version of Mario to help demonstrate the new mouths. As a result, the glove outlines are back to their original color before I changed them up. What do you think of the new versions? Also, I know that the outline connects not so well in that bottom right area. I already fixed it up, so that's no longer a problem. I just didn't do it for this because my computer has been a little unstable today. Due to that, I just wanted to get this preview out and save whatever progress I could before the whole thing crashes.

Its kind of silly to exclude Daisy. History? Why does she need a big history? Guess what Peach's history is? She gets kidnapped... A lot. Point is history doesn't matter much in Mario games.
Also you're basing this whole thing around the Koopa Bros... Who were only in one game! And didn't even play that big of a role in the game. I'd argue Daisy has a far greater presence in the Mario series than any character from an RPG. And Nintendo themselves probably value Daisy more than any one off character from Paper Mario.
She's an awesome character with so much personality but you won't include her for silly reasons. Also why overhaul her? She's already got more fun personality than Peach. She's fine as is.
Also excluding Mario Kart tracks. I can understand your reasoning a bit but a lot of those tracks are MORE than just tracks. A lot of them take place in huge cities, vast deserts, mountains, and more. There's no way they could have "demolished" all that.
I'm familiar with people with your mindset. Mario Kart, Party, Sports, whatever "don't count" in your eyes. Therefor any element prominent in them "don't count" like Daisy or Waluigi. I find this silly too. Of course they count. They play a huge role in the entirety of the Marioverse. Just because they lack a plot (even though some of the sports games do have a plot) doesn't mean they don't exist.
Just look at Mario Kart 8. Look at how fleshed out and real the worlds seem in that game. Far more fleshed out than in New Super Mario Bros. Wii2U. Also I feel like the sports games flesh out the Mario characters more than most of the main games do. Their personalities really shine bright in the sports titles and allow a better glimpse at who these characters actually are!

It's sorta hypocritical that you're saying "Oh, Daisy's so awesome, what a great personality" when she's only starred in one "canonical" Mario game and that's as the fairly silent damsel in distress. It's about as effective as trying to shoehorn Waluigi into Mario canon - who doesn't really fit other than to exist as Scum Of The Earth (no, seriously - Mario God came down and when Waluigi turned 18, he gave Waluigi two choices: to not be the scum of the earth, or to be really good at sports and other intramural Mario activities. Guess which one he chose)
Sure, she's really loud and "Hi, I'm Daisy!" but that's not to say she'd just be as literally flat as any given Paper Mario character (literally flat, as in like a personality of paper)
That said, if he wants to explore the personalities of Daisy and/or the Koopa Bros and expand upon them, he can go right on ahead. Of course they're not going to be 100% par to the character - but that's the fun in fanworks.
...actually, I remember you quoting Miyamoto before on a topic similar to this, but it seems relevant atm.
Miyamoto, aka Mario Dad Wrote:If you're familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon. They might be businessman in one [cartoon] or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games. It's more like they're one big family, or maybe a troupe of actors.
Basically the general personalities of the characters wouldn't necessarily carry over from one game to another. And if E-Man's portrayal of certain characters/headcanon doesn't quite line up with "general Mario canon" or whatever, don't worry: what's important is that he's telling a story where the troupe of actors is portraying the role E-Man wishes to fulfill within his overarching storyline.
That said, E-Man, I honestly...wouldn't try to thread together the entire Mushroom Kingdom and attempt to make it work - like you don't have to worry about the Kremispheres etc. As of lately, DK just kinda jumps on out of the Kongo Jungle and goes to bizarre places and ends up back in the Kongo Jungle at the end. I'd try to just bring the Paper Mario universe together - like don't worry about Beanbean, don't worry about Sasarasa Land - just tell your story, and if Daisy acts a little strange, she's from a kingdom to the East of the Mushroom Kingdom where everyone's a bit more animated ;P
tl;dr throw lexicon out the window and do your thing. just don't fill the story with self-inserts and you're good to go

Right then, the both of you make very good points. It was a lot for me to chew over, but here's my two cents on what I gathered from all this.
Basically, it's not that I don't count the non-RPG spinoffs. It's just that they are extremely hard to include without making drastic changes to the geography. If the story demands for the characters to visit those places, I'll simply include them on the map (with some reasonable tweaks, of course). Also, Koopaul, you raise a good point about how much life there is in the Mario Kart 8 tracks. If you look at a track like Wild Woods, I can honestly see that being a nice town found in one of the Kingdom's forests (possibly the Dimble Wood). With that said, I don't mind including locations from that game. As for my statement of demolishing the tracks, I didn't mean that's the case necessary. While it is inevitable that some tracks might fall into a state of disrepair and possibly bulldozed to make room for new features, that's not the case for others, such as the Moo Moo Farm tracks and the city tracks (wherever those are on the map). In the case for the latter, they probably just closed certain roads in a way that makes them full fledged racetracks. Once it's over, they simply reopen them to the public. In other words, even if the tracks do not exist anymore, the places those tracks once existed are still there.
Now, with that all said, I'm still going to do my best to include as many Mario locations in this world. While I do acknowledge that it's a lot of hard work to make it run smoothly and I don't have to do this, Kosheh, I feel like it would be worth the effort to at least give it a solid try. You see, there are some locations and characters that I honestly do want to include in my series (Thwomp Volcano, Broque Monsieur, Booster, King Boo, the Shroobs, etc.). While it is possible for me to just include the locations associated with each character and landmark, I felt like it would be a shame to just stop there and call it a day. It would even allow more chances to build the world, such as having characters make plans to a trip to Plack Beach for some surf and sand time. Plus, since this is also the reason why I made the map, I want to show certain locations from the distance (ala Super Mario Sunshine) to help establish Mario's world as a believable place. You get what I'm saying?
In my fanon, she's not originally human. Instead, she used to be a dinosaur (most likely a velociraptor to compliment her active nature). You see, when Tatanga and Wario invaded Sarasaland, they did it for the purpose of giving Mario a distraction for Wario to steal his castle. Since Wario speculated that kidnapping Peach would not be easy due his assumption that the security is tighter after the times Bowser kidnapped her (Wario sets this plan in motion after the first few Mario games and even in the present day that no measures are taken to stop Peach from gettign kidnapped), he wanted to find another kingdom with a princess for Mario to rescue. The only other one he knew of in the area was Princess Daisy of Sarasaland. What he didn't realize that she was actually a dinosaur. Using Tatanga's space technology, Wario changed her genetic makeup to that of a human. However, since only Wario and Tatanga know about this, the lot of Sarasaland presumes that Daisy has disappeared, while the rest of the world thinks that Daisy always looked like that. As expected, Daisy would occasionally behave a bit like a wild animal/jungle girl. This works well with the reason why she looks similar to Peach because Peach herself is trying to change Daisy to what she perceives as a civilized princess. It even allows for the humorous image of Peach occasionally spraying Daisy with one of those Windex-like water bottles when she acts out of line.
I bet you see why I was a bit hesitant about the whole thing, right? Also, before you mention it, I actually do have a plan as to why Baby Daisy isn't a velociraptor hatchling. It would either involve some special magic or science to change her appearance like that or that the babies you see in Mario spinoff might not actually be their younger counterparts as you were lead to believe.
Anyway, I'm sorry that I unwittingly started a heated debate and I sounded like an overall worrywart. I just want to tread a little carefully and just toss ideas around to see which ones are the most effective. Overall, I appreciate the feedback from both you guys. Just hang tight as I offer completed parts and, eventually, new ideas to the table.

Did you read my post Kosheh? Why do you not count the sports and party games? Why does Daisy have to be in platformers in order to count as a prominent Mario character?
If we were judging Mario characters based on their platformer appearances alone then pretty much NO one has a personality in the series. In the platformer games you barely get to see the characters express themselves.
Also its quite obvious you haven't played a lot of Mario games starring Daisy. She's only said "Hi I'm Daisy!" in ONE game! If you played things like Mario Power Tennis or Fortune Street or a ton of other games you'd see that Daisy does have a big personality. I observe the personality through the animations and voice acting.
Again I don't get why the sports and party games don't count. Daisy and Waluigi have a ton of merchandise and are prominantly featured in a lot of Mario promotional material. So Nintendo certainly thinks they count!
And I can't even imagine why you hate Waluigi. Probably a very silly reason like "He was just created as a partner for Wario." So? So was Luigi. He was created just as a pallet swap player 2 for Mario Bros. Every Mario character has some lame origin or reason for creation. You should know that.
Edit:I'm sorry E-Man... This is your project and you can do whatever you want. Its just that I hear the same arguments made over Daisy and Waluigi all the time and it always bugs me. This has nothing to do with your project.
