GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!)
I think them trying to rake in as much money as possible is causing the problem. Games are supposed to be made with passion. If so, the games will turn out awesome because thats what you were aiming for, to make it the best. If you aim for money(ONLY) though, you end up trying to follow up with the mixed interest of the public and completely ignore the aspects of the previous games that made em great. You try to go with what "everyone else" thinks is best without caring what makes the game good. End result? A horrid game that is completely un-sonic and that SUCKS and/or is glitchy (due to them trying to get $$ ASAP). You fail miserably and you get neither cash or a good game. Thats what I think is happenin to sonic team/sega...

Theyre murdering the poor hedgehog in cold blood.

You need money to take a chance to fail. HD Sonic remakes (well, done in the Generations engine - not sure if that's a remake, remaster or whatever) would make money. It would make a nice bit of money. Then you make a Sonic The Hedgehog 4 (No THAT Sonic 4 does not count) - again same engine, all classic Sonic look. BOOM - new (old) franchise made "Classic Sonic the Hedgehog" - this gives you some funds to do something creative.

Honestly, I can't see Sonic working in 3D, it never really passed the "this could lead to something great" phase. Yes Sega, if you must make a crap 3D Sonic game for the kids every now and again to make some money. But a good solid series of 2D remakes followed by a new game would be a smart investment (obviously include the original as a bonus - all remakes should do this).

The point is once Sonic is seen as good again, and Sega has some money they can start doing interesting things again. Instead of the nostalgia factor being "hey here's that character from 10 years ago" when you see something on Sega Racing (full title is far too long) instead Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set Radio etc can all be pulled into the modern age. Same IPs but brand new games, reboots - whatever, I don't care.

And then BOOM, established good "Classic Sonic Franchise" nostalgic IP base being rebuilt and then - something new and amazing.

I know sega needs money to survive, but "how do they bring the money" is the question. Sonic CAN work in 3D. You pointed it out several times just how. Why didnt they do it? I guess that will never be directly answered. My guess is that they dont really care if the hedgehog survives as long as he brings in cash. Unlike the good ol days where they (at least LOOKED like) were making games so that the blue blur was the best around and couldnt have competition. They could even merge the best qualities from newer titles into a single game if they wanted to. The speed of Unleashed day stages, the exploration of sonic lost world, the classic style of Generations and the physics and creativity of the Hedgehog engine. Who wouldnt find a game like that playable?

One thing is definately certain........ Sega sure knows how to fuck up.

Yeah, all that keeps happening is Sega keeps putting money and time into what ultimately become failures, and then it's the interesting LITTLE things that Sega has under their belt that suffer for it because the only thing they can do is approach gamers with more familiar markets like Sonic.

And they keep fucking up Sonic, so... They're pretty much screwed.

So funny story. I got my tax return money on Friday, so I obviously decided to use some of it to purchase some of the recent games that I've wanted but haven't had the money to buy. One of those games was Hyrule Warriors, which I ended up buying the last copy in the store.

So I tried popping it in this evening, but the Wii U was refusing to read the disk, which was freakin' weird because it was a brand new game. I pop it in and out of the system a couple times before I notice that the edge of the disk's label was peeling off, and it looked like there was a different image underneath. So I peel it off more to discover that it's actually a paper sticker label covering the label of a "Crysis 2" disk for ... actually I don't even know what console it was for as I didn't see a console logo, which makes me assume it was for PC.

So that sucked.

Mind you, this was asealed game. Still in the plastic wrapping. I have no flippin' clue how this could have happened, but when I returned the game to the store the clerk at the service desk informed me that this is actually an issue that they've been running into a lot. I should have probably asked if it was a problem specifically with Wii U games but I didn't think of it at the time.

Anyways, since I had bought the last copy there was obviously none for me to trade it in for, so I still don't have a copy of the game. I wish that had occurred to me before I walked to the store in a friggin' blizzard.

Anyways, have you guys heard of this happening before? Fake games in a factory sealed box? Whatever thief pulled this off did a masterful job; and completely unnecessary too considering how easy it would be to just steal the games from the store.

Was it factory sealed or just sealed? I mean you can re-seal a game to make it look new. Basically, did it have the little Nintendo easy open thing saying "Nintendo" over and over on it?

+ dude, photos man! You could reported this to like Destructoid or something...

Uh, is that a foreign thing? I don't believe any games I've bought have ever had that on it. The plastic wrapping looked identical to the Bayonetta game I also bought, and that one was the real deal. It's a bit too late for pictures, since I already returned the game.

Sometimes it takes away coins when the servers are too busy. It's usually fixed in a few hours.

So is everything that is available now everything we're going to get? Or might there still be more if we wait? I want to know if it's worth spending my points now or if I should wait.

Also: I noticed that in the rewards list they have Super Metroid for the Wii U at 200 points, but also Super Metroid for the Wii at 250 points. Logic?

Incentive to buy a Wii U. Seems logical enough.
