My taste has changed by I refuse to let it.
Possibly because I'm still waiting for a company to make a standard RPG that isn't really fucking stupid.
I will always stand by my case that Suikoden 1 & 2 are the greatest games ever made, and portray a great story in the best possible manner.
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you

I wasn't that much of a gamer when I was a kid as I am now. My game taste was pretty much whatever we had, which just included some RTS games on PC, LoZ: Link's Awakening and Pokemon Silver on GB, and we used to borrow a Playstation with a demo disc from my bro's friend and a Mega System with Puggsy from another friend.
Currently I don't play many RTS games, so that's changed, although I do enjoy the odd game of Warcraft 2 or 3. I'm much more into FPS than I used to be, primarily because I wasn't allowed back then. I've also developed a taste for puzzle-platformers.
Other than that, I just play anything that I happen to see and like. I don't have a tight preference, it's just that I like some games and I don't like others. But I do prefer unique stuff like Braid and World Of Goo, compared to yet another WWII FPS.
Despite all of this, my worship for Tomba! and Puggsy has never ceased. Nostalgia's fault, of course, but it's also the fact that these two games were great in just about every way, and I haven't found a game that has been near perfect enough to surpass them. Mario & Luigi RPG 3 came pretty close, though.

I no longer play ONLY monster-battler RPGs.
Yeah, that was me as a kid.
since I barely have time to play long games, I've been favouring small games lately instead, such as puzzles and minigame stuff. Still I do play the occasional platformer and shoot-em-up games.
I still dislike games like music games, RPG and fighting games to an extent, but sometimes I play them too.

That's what I forgot: music games. Love 'em all.

eh, it's not so much me with changing tastes as it is "hey look at this game i was really shitty at as a kid, look at me be frickin pro at it now"
also i used to be that kid who you were pretty sure had aspergers that ONLY played first party nintendo games and wanted to own like every nintendo system. I now look back on little me and ask myself "what the fuck was wrong with you? castlevania wasnt even scary you twit"
CHRONO TRIGGER
what were you THINKING baby kosheh CHRONO TRIGGER WAS OUT on a system YOU ACTUALLY OWNED
it's not even nostalgia now, it's more "go and play all of the games you were too fucking naïve to play as a child": basically the reason i bought a gp2x wiz
also that and back then it was an age where gaming companies would actually do good things with nongame licenses
(kinda weird nowadays because for anime vidya, that's the total opposite. naruto fighters holy shit wtf. ranma why couldnt you do this)
Aside from Nintendo, I've changed into an RPG junkie. I also love fighting games even though I suck at them majorly. Otherwise I only owned a Nintendo before and Nintendo is golden.

Even though ?I still love Nintendo more than anything, I'm more accepting to other companies. When I was young it was only Nintendo and I would never give anything else a chance but now I play plenty of other games too.
Still not enough for me to purchase a 360 or PS3.

My tastes haven't changed too drastically as far as I know... I guess I'm willing to play a wider variety of games now, and it's easier for me to recognize and accept the flaws of games I really enjoy. When I was younger I wasn't very interested in first-person shooters or survival horror, but now I'd have no problem with trying a game from those genres. One thing that didn't change was that I've never been interested in sports games (aside from occasional Mario spin-offs I guess) or your generic PHOTOREALISTIC WAR SHOOTER. There are probably good ones out there but nothing really holds my interest.
Also I guess I expect more from games now? I was blown away by Dark Cloud when I first played it sixth grade, and I tried coming back to it last year and was totally let down. There are still aspects about it I like but the flaws are so gigantic and aggravating now. Maybe when you're younger you just assume flaws in games are actually your fault? Years ago when I'd die in that game I'd give it another try again and again, I guess assuming I just needed to get better at playing, but I play now and think, "the camera in this game is terrible and constantly gets me killed or prevents me from opening doors, and gold is way too scarce to buy enough healing items or repair powder." I suppose once you recognize that these things aren't your fault, you come to the realization that you don't have to subject yourself to that, and there are plenty of other games out there that are actually worth your attention.

That's because jiggle physics weren't as refined as they are now.

Can you guys maybe not talk about those sorts of things, considering this forum in particular has discussed why that kind of talk is such a problem? Especially since one of you was very deeply involved in the arguments...

I thought the smilies showed that it was just a joke. Unless he wasn't joking...
Erm my bad. I have a hard time telling when something is a joke or not.
