Modern era trailer, for those who haven't seen it yet.

I preordered it on Steam already.
its been a long way since i felt this way...

I was also feeling the way Koopaul did. I dislike how Sonic Unleashed and Colors had just a lot of mindless boosting, Colors having really good platforming but ONLY on 2D sections, and Unleashed's difficulty was basically memorizing the stages, with few 3D platforming, but here is an answer to that:
I know there was already another Modern Sky Sacntuary video, but this one is so much better. There is no way you can say that this level isn't amazing. SO many cool ideas being used here, and so much variety to it too. (also, you can't see here in this video, but in the other Modern Sky Sanctuary video you can - there is an Eggrobo that, if you don't go fast enough, he stands on a switch and blocks your way through a fast path)

I really love the fact that they added a variety of paths to take.
It seems like sega finally made 3d sonic flawless in my opinion.

i love how i just went to play the sonic 3D they gave you on the steam preorder, just to rememebr how awful it is. and how i will probably never touch it again.

You didn't squee like a girl going "I can't believe they put this song in!". You think these are all too short? How about a 7 minutes long End Credits Melody of all of the main stages?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of that scene from the Budokai Tenkaichi intro.
I wanted this game so much, and then i watch the modern era trailer.
I need this game now! EDIT: I needed that cyber track remix, it's my favourite zone of all time.
I've actually been looking for this video again for a long while, Retro was nice enough to link it.
Yay, automated slopes!

If they fixed that the game would be perfect... Oh and less boosting on modern Sonic please.

i can overlook that.

Rolling has a speed cap and a "friction" to the ground that makes it be completely useless, and also Sonic is so small compared to everything that he needs crazy acceleration to get through slopes and loops, which is why the spin-dash is so powerful. It really gives me the impression like levels were designed with Modern Sonic in mind, and then they sort of "nerfed" the gameplay and level segments for Classic Sonic (Spin-Dash works like a nerfed Boost, a lot of 10-ring monitors instead of a bunch if 10-ring rings, enemies are begging to be just killed and are only a threat if you stay like 10 seconds in the same place, and invincibility monitors and speed sneakers seem to have been added as an afterthought) But still, the level design seems really interesting in a lot of ways, with so many alternate paths that reward skill with better paths and cool ideas being constantly displayed - my only concerns are the levels being too easy and maybe having too few levels/game being too short. Also I did wish the Modern Sonic levels would have a few things changed: Boosting more similar to Sonic Colors (much harder to adquire and also a way smaller boost bar), Enemies that aren't just punching bags, and Crawling (most hilarious thing to do in Unleashed)

I know this news is a few days old, but it hasn't been posted here yet.

I has money, so in a month I'll be owning the 3DS version.
I find it funny that all 9 stages have been revealed in the console version, but of the 7 stages in the 3DS version, just 6 are (kind of) known. By the way, the Big Arm remix is SUPER FRIKKIN' AWESOME! That alone makes it worth getting the 3DS version (that, and the selection of stages). |
