Non Existing Video Games You Would Love To Have
I want Bomberman 64 on the Virtual Console. Now.

I've been thinking recently that I'd kinda like to see more creative type games. Games where you're kinda left to your own devices, in the vein of Minecraft or, hell, The Sims. I guess Little Big Planet counts, too!

I do get pretty annoyed when games use the community as an excuse to put out a base game that seems 'unfinished', though. It'd have to be something that's playable in its own merits but community additions enhance it. I really enjoy LBP but the main storyline seems a little like a demo for the level designer, and honestly you have to do a lot of digging to find any particularly inventive or interesting levels in the community. I dunno if LBP2's any better, though.

A game that features all incarnations of Sonic the Hedgehog and serves as a merger between the various universes. The game would be a departure from typical Soinc the Hedgehog games and feature dungeon crawling and super-emphasis gameplay like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. The game would feature incarnations and characters from all existing versions of Sonic the Hedgehog, including multiple Eggmans and Robotniks. Alternate costumes could be used to utilize similar characters, such as Silver Sonic being an alternate costume for Metal Sonic.

A game about modern life that's legit. Something that's more an art piece than a full game, but a game that shows those moments in life where people think "I'm the only person that feels this way" - help them realise they aren't alone.

Sitting in their room.
Wondering if they're going to get anywhere.
Or even just wondering if they are happy.

This isn't me being depressing or anything, but it happens. Those moments when you wake up, brush your teeth and look at yourself in the mirror and wonder what the fuck you're doing.
A game where you control someone going through life as you see fit, with the repercussions that would happen if they decided to leave their girlfriend, go to the bar and meet a girl, quit their job, leave school, try to commit crimes, make the path they see fit for the character they create, and demonstrate a reality for them..

edit: A little like the sims, but with less joking and more reality and outcomes. And a bit more personalised.
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you
I was recently wondering what a Drill Dozer sequel would be like.

I think if a 3d Drill Dozer were ever to be made, I'd want to have destructible environments and actual tunneling through the ground. But aside from that, I really can't think of a workable design.

Meanwhile, on the story end, I have a super robot plot stuck in my head that would lend itself much better to a presentational medium than an interactive one...

I love you. Heart

I would love for some reason a side scroll No More Heroes vs. Madworld like game. In my mind it seems way to radular, and I can't even think of any reason why it should happen. But I want it to.

I wish Treasure would make a fighting game. With all of it's characters in Hi-res Sprite Art.

I really harken to have the days of the PS1 back, and mainly my reason is how unfamiliar developers really were with 3D as a medium.
I'd really like another 'renaissance' period for video games again, where developers were more willing to experiment and take risks.

I'd really like more games built out of experimental development, and more freedom of creative designs.
Things like No More Heroes are great, but that kind of thing is really Suda 51's 'thing' and it generally fails to breed much impact on the industry as a whole.
There are a few very good examples of games that were created wholly out of experimental ambition or total freedom of design,
games like REZ and Vagrant Story

Really, I'd like an action RPG or even a regular RPG that's willing to experiment with tested conventions

Thinking of you,
wherever you are.
now thats the job of indie devs.

though

they do like to get stuck on ideas that were "experimentally sucessful" too :V

Well that's just it right? Something is an experiment then it brings in money. Then you keep trying to refine it instead of going back to the mind set that "We need to do something completely unconventional." Money changes opinions and peoples mind sets. Some people like to push what they've created and make it better (I'm looking at you Portal!) Often times though it get's milked to death in such a short period of time (I'm looking at you Modern Warfare!).

Here's an interesting article about five videogames, that don't exist:

My favourite entry: "The Department Sword [S-RPG] - Teenage angst as trainee traders have to fight monsters to buy and sell stocks."
