For my first sprite trick...
#16
The only problem I can spot is how she seems to "jump" to the first yellow frame at the end of the dance.
One frame she's normal, and in the next she's yellow.
I realize that it's a GBC game and has a limited palette, but the "jump" looks out of place when compared to the smoothness of the rest of the animation.

So... What you're saying is that I should make at least one frame that has a better color transition regardless of the GBC palette?

Instead of that, what if you flashed between her standard palette and her yellow monkey palette a few frames or so?

Hmmmm... I'll try it...

as her body shrinks, the gravity would surely pull it down. also, as you present it, half of the frames on almost every transformation are redundant since said transformation is suposed to be whatm instantaneous?. the more frames you stuff into something doesnt necesary make it more smooth. or at least try to connect the dance with the transformation itself, instead of just deforming the sprite into the animal form.

am i right asuming that what you did is add more frames into the already in game morphing sequence?

PS: i warn you, don't come and start crying if someone doesnt like your stuff. you came for feedback and feedback you will get. if you're only expecting praise, then its not going to work.

............ Don't tell me I'm going to have to repeat the same bad experience I had on Smack Jeeves where the users started to despise me once I committed one careless action after another...

Anyway... I would try to pull Shantae to the ground, but I thought it would be neat for her to stay in the air for a bit and then fall to the ground...

Tie into the dance, huh? I was originally planning on having the transformation start after she's done dancing, but I'll see how I can tie it into the dance...

For the record, I didn't add frames to the in-game transformation sequence. In fact, this isn't even the same sequence from the game. All I did was make a new transformation sequence. If you check videos for the game, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Actually, while I was expecting some praise, I was also expecting someone to point out the problems in my sprites. I know that this is the place for people to point out flaws, so this is why I came here before submitting to change the sprites if necessary.

Now.... Before I consider doing the changes you proposed, I should let the others have their say in these corrected animations. This time I added the color change!

Vipershark's idea

TomGuycott's idea

What do you think?

Yes. Preferably more than one, but essentially, yes.

Mm, hm... I get you...

If you check the post above yours, you'll see two animations. The top one incorporates your idea (including adding more than one frame). Can you tell me what you think as well what needs to be changed?

Well, I honestly can't tell where in mine the transition is, so TomGuycott's idea obviously looks better in this case.

Well..... OK! After all, the flashing effect makes more sense for the limited GBC palette.

Any other bright ideas, Vipershark? If these sprites are going to be part of the main site, then they certainly need them.

You seem to have the transforming to monkey down rather well. However, what are you going to do about Shantae transforms back from being a monkey? Is she going to grow up from the floor? or jump up and grow down from the air?

Change back? ......... Gee... I never really thought of that... I should probably do something about that since The monkey form is pretty much ready like you said.

..... However, don't expect me to work on them right away because I need to do this Christmas project for my family. I can't give you the full details, but I must have them done before Christmas.

I understand, I have a few Christmas projects planned myself. Best of luck to you.
