Show me on the site where someone has ripped Mario from SMG in the same way that you're ripping these WoW sprites, and I'll leave the thread forever.
(not Boo Mario, though)
Starfox might not be locked to 90 degrees, but the camera itself is in a fixed position.
In WoW, the camera can be moved to any possible angle, which has been my point all along. You just CAN'T rip a 3D model with a dynamic camera like that.

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Eagallowglass - 11-27-2009

You keep arguing a non-point Vipe. You asked me to show you a sheet that was ripped the same way, which I did...twice...and now you're saying show me more...which I don't have to because I've already showed you. It's a dead issue and the sheet's already approved so I'll give you the final say and I'm done arguing with it.

The Star Fox sheet pretty much DOES cover all directions because it's a limited 3D game, however. The "model" can't be ripped because of how simplistic it is, so it practically is a sprite.

I know #6 and I wasn't bashing the starfox sheets I think they are excellent but someone is inferring that in order for the sheets to be acceptable they have to be of every single angle, zoom, ect and I was using a hyperbole to show the fallacy to that logic.

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Vipershark - 11-27-2009

No, you didn't show me anything.
I already explained (multiple times) that broozer and boo mario were exceptions because their games feature a FIXED camera. (Boo mario is a little iffy though)
Same thing with Star Fox.
In these games, the frames are limited to ONE viewpoint.

In WoW, the game is NOT limited to one viewpoint, leaving you with an infinite number of possibilities.

You have yet to show me a sheet where a fully 3D game with a dynamic camera has been ripped from one side.

You keep ignoring the fact that whether your sheet is put up or not, it's still highly incomplete.
Not taking into account the other 359 degrees that you aren't ripping from, you still don't have the over 1000 frames that each animation has.
Even from a single viewpoint, your animations are still lacking most of their frames from and wouldn't animate well.

Why would you put up an incomplete sheet?

Alright man! Great debate! Enjoy the rest of your thanksgiving break!

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Cobalt Blue - 11-27-2009

Low/high poly 3D models on fixed cameras =/= sprite.

Also said sheets were specifically used as a reference for "special cases". i might remind you that we are in this thread to see if allowing 3D models with their respective textures would suit what TSR is meant to be, not purely if your particular sheets should be included.

and viper what the fuck are you talking about seriusly re read any of the post i left in this thread. a fixed camera doesnt turn a 3D model into a sprite otherwise any 3D racing game car is a sprite since the camera is always fixed behind the car(starfox's camera is NOT fixed).

as for uploading models, i'd suggest using the same format as now, but with the following rules:
>Must include front view, Back view and other 2 dinamic poses of the character for reference.
>must include all the textures(minus external/effects/etc) properly organized in their original size.
>the model must be in any of the following formats(common 3D model formats) in a zip/rar file with its texture pack included in the same zip/rar file

and obiusly a link for the said rar/zip file should be included in the info box below each sheet.

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Eagallowglass - 11-27-2009

I agree with the rules but you'll need to explain to me the third one.:

">the model must be in any of the following formats(common 3D model formats) in a zip/rar file with its texture pack included in the same zip/rar file
and obiusly a link for the said rar/zip file should be included in the info box below each sheet. "

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Vipershark - 11-27-2009

3D models come in formats such as .3ds, .obj, and other common filetypes. If those are included with the texture files, they're accepted.

also 'glass, note that this argument is nothing personal against you. Just trying to get something clarified.

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - -Dark- - 11-28-2009

Eh
The way i see it, these sheets are still useful and well-ripped (for what they are).

And despite being at a fixed camera view, wouldn't 3D models such as boozer and boo mario still have a shitload of possible frames due to zooming and the camera not being totally fixed on the player?

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Vipershark - 11-28-2009

no
because that doesn't happen

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - The KKM - 11-28-2009

add a subsection of sorts, perhaps? The Sprtier's Resource Resource, with sheets like these that aren't sprites but can be used as references to create sprites?

That would honestly be the most useful thing in this thread.

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Eagallowglass - 11-28-2009

I'm on it Groove

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Cobalt Blue - 11-28-2009

a bunch of screenshots of a 3D model could hardly be of any use. specially at that size. specially when you can use the object viewer to get way better references.

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Vipershark - 11-28-2009

that too

RE: World of Warcraft Sheet Critique. - Eagallowglass - 11-30-2009

Well my sheet wasn't on the update Sad Oh well like I said before you can get them from the forum if you want em.
