You guys are talking as if they won't have gen 5 or 6 Pokemon featured at all. Maybe not as playable characters beyond Mega forms of Lucario or Mewtwo, but remember these posts are more or less teases most of the time.

For Arceus' sake, don't. Lucario's confirmation does not affect the chances of Mewtwo.
God forbid if Mewtwo is cut from the roster again, it's most likely due to a new Pokémon being added to the playable roster, like maybe Zoroark. However, given Mewtwo's current position, it'd be weird to leave him out.
Also:
Teleport =/= Extreme Speed
Force Palm =/= Confusion
Counter =/= Disable
And a decent amount of A-moves aren't even similar.
The only thing they've truly got in common is their neutral-B charged projectile attack, and even those have notable differences.
The whole argument that Lucario is a Mewtwo clone is bullshit. Also note that Lucario is a veteran character who is only playable because people liked him in Brawl. Lucario in does not mean Mewtwo out.

I'm pretty sure I said this already, but I have this feeling that Mewtwo is gonna be a super secret character similar to how he was in Melee.
And like Nick said, their movesets are fairly different from the beginning. So they each have a chargeable ball move, so what? They sort of have a Ryu and Akuma kind of synergy too, good vs evil and all that. Plus it goes beyond that with body over mind, dog vs cat (kinda?), among others. I really want to see both characters head to head.
