Seriously though, I LOVE how much life his expressions have. Look at how tough and how funny he can be all at once. I love Dedede.

Fantastic! Dedede looks great in this game. There was always something a little too cute about Dedede in Brawl and not enough goofy. They got the balance perfect in this game.
All it took was making his pupils a little smaller and lips a little less puffy.

he's look exactly like his anime incarnation, which is fine by me because i've liked the anime.

this for example, is an expression he's only had in the anime, never seen him like this in the game. his mimic surely is based if not coincidentally the same as his anime counterpart.
king dedede probably was a my favorite rendered model in brawl, and he looks even more amazing this time around. i love it he's announced before meta knight.
also, sakurai might ruin this idea next Monday but, i don't see any pictures of our beloved king throwing certain creatures as a special attack, which was pretty much his major gimmick in the previous game. maybe they've got a rid of it for a certain spear welding newcomer that has yet to be announced?

No I think it's just the facial expressions that are giving you the anime impression. The anime model however was taller, leaner, and had kind of long ape-like arms. Not to mention he wore nothing under his robe save for his sash.

Not to mention the colors are all wrong.
If anything I think this model update is mostly inspired by the artwork of him from Kirby Mass Attack:

Of course I have a problem with her design. What else is new? But this time it's not Sakurai's fault. No it's Game & Wario's fault. That game, for some reason, decided to redesign the female cast to look less like characters that would coexist in Wario's universe, and more like characters from Rhythm Heaven.
And only the female cast mind you. Ashley now looks like a 6-year-old. The red color of her eyes are now pure black... like a dolls eyes. It's just overly cutetsy and even more anime than her design was already.
But yeah, not this game's fault at all. So I'm not complaining about this game as much as I'm complaining about whosever idea it was to turn Ashley into... that.

Ashley is announced before Wario in the same was Samurai Goroh was announced before Capt. Falcon in Brawl.
